21. Cardiac lipid storage and metabolism following myocardial ischemia
Sammanfattning : Myocardial ischemia is associated with cellular- and metabolic adjustments within the heart, including accumulation of lipids. Myocardial lipids are stored in cytosolic droplets, consisting of a core of neutral lipids surrounded by a complex surface containing proteins, such as perilipins. LÄS MER
22. Lower limb ischemia in women
Sammanfattning : Arteriosclerosis is a general disease affecting different parts of the arterial system. In coronary heart disease (CHD) women have different risk factors, symptoms, indication for treatment, interpretation of diagnostic data and outcome than men. LÄS MER
23. Cerebral ischemia studied with positron emission tomography and microdialysis
Sammanfattning : Stroke is the third leading cause of morbidity and mortality in the industrialized world. Subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH), the least common form of stroke, is one of the most demanding diseases treated in neurointensive care units. Cerebral ischemia may develop rapidly, and has a major influence on outcome. LÄS MER
24. Pulmonary Injury Following Intestinal Ischemia and Reperfusion in Rats
Sammanfattning : Intestinal ischemia and reperfusion (I/R) is a potentially life-threatening condition, sometimes leading to a systemic inflammatory response and the potential development of the multiple organ dysfunction syndrome. The overall aim of the thesis was to study the effects of intestinal I/R on pulmonary function with special emphasis on removal of excess alveolar fluid, pulmonary endothelial barrier permeability, leukocyte accumulation and function, and possible therapeutic strategies to prevent the development of pulmonary injury following intestinal I/R. 25. Mechanisms of Ischemic Brain Injury- studies in murine hippocampal slice cultures
Sammanfattning : Cerebral ischemia is a major cause of mortality and morbidity in the western world. Even though much effort has been put into research and development of effective drugs against ischemic damage there is to date no effective pharmacological brain protective treatment. LÄS MER
