6. Photon stimulated CVD of amorphous carbon thin films : By Mikael Lindstram
Sammanfattning : Amorphous carbon has attracted much interest for several decades now because of its complex crystal structure and microstructure. Depending on the carbon sp2/sp3 bonding ratio, these materials yield a broad spectrum of useful properties; which can be tailored for specific applications. LÄS MER
7. Low-Dose Ionizing Radiation Induces Neurotoxicity in the Neonate : Acute or fractionated doses and interaction with xenobiotics in mice
Sammanfattning : This thesis examines the developmental neurotoxic effects of exposure to low-dose ionizing radiation (IR), alone or together with xenobiotics, during a critical period of neonatal brain development in mice.During mammalian brain development there is a period called the brain growth spurt (BGS), which involves extensive growth and maturation of the brain. 8. Gamma radiation techniques for non-destructive post-irradiation examination of nuclear fuel : Predicting performance and optimizing instrument design
Sammanfattning : Collimated gamma-based techniques are widely used to study nuclear fuel, especially for non-destructive post-irradiation examination (PIE). Examples of such techniques include gamma emission tomography (GET) and gamma transmission densitometry (GTD). LÄS MER
9. Modelling of Dislocation Bias in FCC Materials
Sammanfattning : Irradiation induced void swelling is problematic for the application of austenitic steels under high dose irradiation. In this thesis, the swelling is characterized by dislocation bias. The dislocation bias is obtained using the finite element method, accounting for fcc copper and nickel under electron irradiation. 10. The Importance of Dosimetry and Radiobiology in Nuclear Medicine : Quantitative methods and modelling
Sammanfattning : Nuclear medicine uses radioactive pharmaceuticals for diagnostic or therapeutic purposes. The ionizing radiation emitted from the radiopharmaceutical is partially absorbed within the patient's body and internal dosimetry is the method to estimate the absorbed dose to a tumour or risk organ.
