1. Bioaccessibility of Stainless Steels : Importance of Bulk and Surface Features
Sammanfattning : With increasing environmental awareness, the desire to protect human beings and the environment from adverse effects induced by dispersed metals has become an issue of great concern and interest. New policies, such as REACH (Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals) within the European Community, have been implemented to reduce hazards posed by the use of chemicals on producers and downstream users. 2. Adsorption of surface active elements on the iron (100) surface : A study based on ab initio calculations
Sammanfattning : In the present work, the structural, electronic properties, thermodynamic stability and adatom surface movements of oxygen and sulfur adsorption on the Fe surface were studied based on the ab initio method. Firstly, the oxygen adsorbed on the iron (100) surface is investigated at the three adsorption sites top, bridge and hollow sites, respectively. LÄS MER
3. Surface and Bulk Reactivity of Iron Oxyhydroxides : A Molecular Perspective
Sammanfattning : Iron oxyhydroxide (FeOOH) mineral plays an important role in a variety of atmospheric, terrestrial and technological settings. Molecular resolution of reactions involving these minerals is thereby required to develop a fundamental understanding of their contributions in processes taking place in the atmosphere, Earth’s upper crust as well as the hydrosphere. 4. Surface Interactions in Powder Injection Moulding
Sammanfattning : Powder Injection Moulding (PIM) is an attractive technique for producing complex components in large quantities my means of powder technology. The process includes mixing powder with a suitable binder, usually a thermoplastic polymer. Because of the large attractive forces between small particles the powder can be agglomerated in the binder. LÄS MER
5. Sintering of water-atomized iron and low-alloyed steel powder
Sammanfattning : Iron and steel powder grades are extensively used in the powder metallurgy (PM) industry for manufacturing of ferrous structural components, with a major customer in the automotive industry. The powder grades are predominantly manufactured by water-atomization, yielding powder particles with highly irregular morphology and good compressibility, making the powder ideal for the conventional press-and-sinter manufacturing route.
