1. Tellurium interaction with surfaces in the containment and sea-salt residue
Sammanfattning : In the event of a nuclear accident, the release of radionuclides is always a concern. The extent of such releases is affected by several factors, for example type of atmosphere, temperature, and what structural materials are present during the accident. LÄS MER
2. Synthetic and Mechanistic Studies with Iodine(III) Reagents
Sammanfattning : This thesis describes the development of metal-free transformations and mechanistic studies on the reactivity of two classes of hypervalent iodine reagents: diaryliodonium salts and vinylbenziodoxolones (VBX). Recently, they have been recognized as valuable synthetic reagents with broad applicability in organic synthesis. LÄS MER
3. Some New Methods in Sialic Acid Chemistry
Sammanfattning : Gangliosides (G) are sialic acid-containing cell surface glycosphingolipids capable of forming lactones, i.e. inner esters. Some gangliosides are tumor-associated antigens, and they may serve as immunogens in their lactone form, where the latter is comparatively more abundant on the surface of malignant cells. LÄS MER
4. Development and Applications of Hypervalent Iodine Compounds : Powerful Arylation and Oxidation Reagents
Sammanfattning : The first part of this thesis describes the efficient synthesis of several hypervalent iodine(III) compounds. Electron-rich diaryliodonium salts have been synthesized in a one-pot procedure, employing mCPBA as the oxidant. Both symmetric and unsymmetric diaryliodonium tosylates can be isolated in high yields. LÄS MER
5. Bifunctionalization of Small Organic Molecules Based on Fluorine Incorporation
Sammanfattning : The dissertation work that is summarized in this thesis describes novel syntheses of organofluorine compounds with a broad coverage of different fluorine-containing motifs.Chapter 2.1 covers works on the exploration of new trifluoromethylthiolating reactions of diazocarbonyl compounds.
