  1. 1. Ecofeminism and Environmental Ethics

    Författare :David Kronlid; Ulf Görman; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; Ethics; Ecofeminism; environmental ethics; environmental ethical theory; ecofeminist ethical theory; views of nature; human nature dualism; intrinsic value; intrinsic worth; social constructivism; ethical contextualism; intrapersonal pluralism; inconsistent self; cyborg self; practical ethics.; Etik; Philosophy subjects; Filosofiämnen; etik; Ethics;

    Sammanfattning : This study focuses on ecofeminist ethical theory. A first aim is to clarify ecofeminist views on five central issues in the field of environmental ethics. These issues are: (1) Views of nature, (2) social constructivism and nature, (3) values of nature, (4) ethical contextualism, and (5) ethical pluralism. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Magnetodynamics in Spin Valves and Magnetic Tunnel Junctions with Perpendicular and Tilted Anisotropies

    Sammanfattning : Spin-torque transfer (STT) effects have brought spintronics ever closer to practical electronic applications, such as MRAM and active broadband microwave spin-torque oscillator (STO), and have emerged as an increasingly attractive field of research in spin dynamics. Utilizing materials with perpendicular magnetic anisotropy (PMA) in such applications offers several great advantages such as low-current, low-field operation combined with high thermal stability. 3. 3. Punishment and Personal Responsibility

    Författare :Göran Duus-Otterström; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; desert determinism excuses explanations free will puniahment responsibility retributivism retributive justice retributive penal regime;

    Sammanfattning : What justifies punishment? What are the features of a justified penal regime? Answers to these questions often centre on punishment’s capacity to change unwanted behaviour, either by deterring would-be rule breakers or addressing their criminal motivations through various forms of rehabilitation. This book instead defends (a version of) the retributive theory of punishment, according to which punishment should aim to give rule breakers what they deserve. LÄS MER

  4. 4. My people right or wrong? : a comparative analysis of national sentiments and their meaning

    Författare :Mikael Hjerm; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; national sentiment; national identity; nationalism; attitudes; multiculturalism; nation; xenophobia; comparative research;

    Sammanfattning : In a world of presumed nation-states, nation has been, and still is, an intrinsic part of political legitimization and identity formation. Thus, it is clear that the understanding of nationality and people's relationship too it is of great importance for our understanding of how a stable society, partly built on nationality, can prevail in a world of migration consisting of individuals with diverging moral, religious and cultural conceptions. 5. 5. Negotiating the value(s) of design(ing): An organisational inquiry

    Författare :Ulises Navarro Aguiar; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; design; strategy; practice; valuation; value; power; agency;

    Sammanfattning : Organisations are increasingly calling upon design as a strategic asset to generate innovation as part of a wider fascination with ‘design thinking’ in business. Recent scholarship has tended to emphasise design’s many contributions to business and society, playing a part in the growing recognition and expansion of design as an idea. LÄS MER
