  1. 1. Intraocular pressure : clinical aspects and new measurement methods

    Författare :Gauti Jóhannesson; Christina Lindén; Per Hallberg; Anders Eklund; Boel Bengtsson; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Intraocular pressure; glaucoma; tonometry; ISO; LASEK; CCT; curvature; Ophtalmiatrics; Oftalmiatrik; Ophtalmology; oftalmiatrik;

    Sammanfattning : Intraocular pressure (IOP) measurement is a routine procedure and a fundament in glaucoma care. Elevated IOP is the main risk factor for glaucoma, and to date, reduction of IOP is the only possible treatment. In a retrospective clinical material, the prevalence of open angle glaucoma was estimated on the west coast of Iceland. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Advanced surgeries, medicines and materials for corneal regeneration

    Författare :Maria Xeroudaki; Neil Lagali; Beatrice Bourghardt Peebo; Per Fagerholm; Stefan Schrader; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : Corneal transplantation is often the only treatment option in cases of corneal blindness, with the main challenges being the scarcity of human donors, risk for graft failure and suboptimal visual outcome due to suture-related issues. Alternative therapies are sought that either address the above transplantation issues directly or stimulate the cornea’s repair mechanism and regenerative properties to restore transparency without the need for transplantation. 3. 3. Applanation Resonance Tonometry for Intraocular Pressure Measurement

    Författare :Per Hallberg; Olof A. Lindahl; Anders Eklund; Christina Lindén; Per Ask; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Physics; Resonance; applanation; tonometry; glaucoma; Goldmann; biomechanical; Intraocular; ART; Fysik; fysik; Physics;

    Sammanfattning : Elevated intraocular pressure (IOP) is one of the major risk factors for glaucoma. Since glaucoma is a leading cause of blindness, reliable methods for measuring the IOP are important. This doctoral dissertation presents a new method, applanation resonance tonometry (ART), for measurement of IOP. LÄS MER

  4. 4. On Complications to Cataract Surgery

    Författare :Gunnar Jakobsson; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; cataract surgery; pseudophakia; capsular rupture; retinal detachment; IOL dislocation; glaucoma; vitreous; immune mediators; immunoassay; cytokines;

    Sammanfattning : Cataract surgery, meaning exchange of the opaque lens in the eye with an artificial lens, is nowadays one of the most successful surgical procedures ever known. It is also the most frequent surgery performed in the Western world. In Sweden alone, more than 100,000 cataract operations are performed annually. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Long-term outcome after cataract surgery : a longitudinal study

    Författare :Britta Lundqvist; Eva Mönestam; Ulf Stenevi; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; cataract; cataract surgery outcome; longitudinal study; subjective visual acuity; Ophtalmiatrics; Oftalmiatrik; Ophtalmology; oftalmiatrik;

    Sammanfattning : Background Cataract surgery is the most common surgical procedure carried out in the developed world and surgery volumes have increased considerably during the last decades. Various aspects of the surgical procedure, including surgical incision size and intraocular lens materials, have changed substantially, improving the safety and the quality of the outcome. LÄS MER
