   Sammanfattning : Affibody molecules are small (7 kDa) affinity proteins of non-immunoglobulin origin that have been generated to specifically interact with a large number of clinically important molecular targets.In this thesis, Affibody molecules have been employed as tracers for radionuclide molecular imaging of HER2- and IGF-1R-expressing tumors, paper I-IV, and for surface knock-down of EGFR, paper V.    Sammanfattning : Intracellular bacterial pathogens have developed mechanisms to enter and invade cells, to survive the immune response and to replicate inside the host. We studied the innate mechanisms that have evolved in the host to battle intracellular bacterial pathogens, such as the obligate intracellular Chlamydia pneumoniae and the facultative intracellular Listeria monocytogenes, which invade the respiratory and the gastrointestinal tracts in humans.    Sammanfattning : Congenital nephrotic syndrome of the Finnish type, CNF, is an autossomal recessive disorder caused by mutations in the NPHS1 gene and, consequently, in its product nephrin, a 180 kDa transmembrane protein belonging to the immunoglobulin superfamily of adhesion molecules. In kidneys, nephrin is located exclusively to the podocyte slit diaphragm and it has a key role in organising amd maintaining the renal ultrafiltation barrier. LÄS MER
