  1. 6. Calcium calmodulin-dependent protein kinase signal transduction in cerebral arteries

    Författare :Roya Waldsee; Lund Institutionen för kliniska vetenskaper; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; CAMK; Ednothelin receptors; Calcium; gene regulation;

    Sammanfattning : Cerebral arteries participate actively in the response that follows an episode of cerebral ischemia in man and rat. It has been shown that the vascular endothelin receptor expression is increased in stroke and organ culture. LÄS MER

  2. 7. Regulation of Islet Function by the Neuropeptide PACAP

    Författare :Karin Filipsson; Diabetes - molekylär metabolism; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; postprandial; calcium; sodium; cAMP; intracellular signaling; glucagon; insulin; Pituitary adenylate cyclase-activating polypeptide; PACAP receptors; Endocrinology; secreting systems; diabetology; Endokrinologi; sekretion; diabetologi;

    Sammanfattning : It is known that parasympathetic, sympathetic and sensory nerves innervate the islets and that these nerves harbor both classical neurotransmitters and neuropeptides. However, the neural influence on islet hormone release is complex and not yet fully understood A recently discovered pancreatic neuropeptide is pituitary adenylate cyclase-activating polypeptide (PACAP). 3. 8. Interaction of Calcium Ions with Lipid Membranes

    Författare :Baharan Ali Doosti; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; phospholipid bilayer membrane; membrane dynamics; micromanipulation; calcium ions; cell migration.; membrane nanotube; membrane tubular protrusions; calcium ion concentration gradient; membrane bending; giant unilamellar vesicle;

    Sammanfattning : Bilayer membranes enclose and shield the biological cell and its inner compartments, as well as the tubular networks that exist within and between the cells. Due to their fluidic nature, the membranes are incredibly dynamic and flexible, which allows them to bend, reshape and fuse in response to mechanical and chemical stimuli within their natural microenvironments. 4. 9. Calcium regulation and functions of basic Helix-Loop-Helix transcription factors

    Författare :Juha Saarikettu; Thomas Grundström; Dan Holmberg; Mikael Sigvardsson; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Molecular biology; calcium; calmodulin; calretinin; transcription; bHLH; E-protein; E2-2; Molekylärbiologi; Molecular biology; Molekylärbiologi; molekylärbiologi; Molecular Biology;

    Sammanfattning : The members of the ubiquitously expressed E-protein subfamily of basic Helix-Loop-Helix (bHLH) transcription factors, E12/E47, SEF2-1 and HEB, have important roles as regulators of gene expression in various differentiation processes, including lymphocyte development and myogenesis. In myogenesis, E-proteins are proposed to function as obligate heterodimer partners for members of the MyoD family of muscle-specific bHLH transcription factors. LÄS MER

  5. 10. Regulation of Intracellular Calcium in Brown Adipocytes

    Författare :Shi-Jin Zhang; Lawrence C.H Wang; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; zoofysiologi; Zoological physiology;

    Sammanfattning : Intracellular Ca2+ is considered a primary regulator of cell function. In the present study, the control and the effects of intracellular Ca2+ in brown adipocytes have been investigated. Cytosolic Ca2+ levels ([Ca2+]i) are the resultant of the activity of Ca2+ transport systems. LÄS MER
