  1. 11. Residual Trapping in Geological Storage of CO2 : Determination from Field Experiments and Data Analysis Using Numerical Modeling

    Författare :Saba Joodaki; Auli Niemi; Zhibing Yang; Jonathan Ennis-King; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Residual trapping; CO2 geological storage; Dissolution trapping; Field experiment; numerical modeling; Geovetenskap med inriktning mot miljöanalys; Earth Science with specialization in Environmental Analysis;

    Sammanfattning : Geological storage of CO2 in deep saline aquifers is one of the methods to mitigate the release of this greenhouse gas into the atmosphere. The efficiency of this solution can be improved by better understanding of the relevant trapping processes, as well as by improving available injection techniques and developing tools for more accurate site characterization. 2. 12. Practical application of machine learning for analyses of biological matrices and environmental phenomena

    Författare :Alexandra Walsh; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Machine learning; Surface enhanced Raman spectroscopy; Acute lymphatic leukaemia; Volatile halogenated organic carbons; Marine algae; Doxorubicin; Principal component analysis; Multivariate statistics; Design of experiments; Waterlogged archaelogical wood; Transposed orthogonal partial least squares;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis presents research aimed at forwarding an understanding of machine learning methods as a method of studying complex matrices and environmental phenomena. A number of machine learning methods in the form of linear projection algorithms and statistical experimental designs were applied for qualitative analysis of different matrices. LÄS MER

  3. 13. Studies of the morphological activity of rivers as illustrated by the River Fyris

    Författare :Filip Hjulström; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : (Summary)The investigation bears upon a determination of the rate of the mechanical and chemical denudation within the Fyris river-basin north of Uppsala in Central Sweden. The introduction deals with the morphological activity of rivers in general and the different methods (the sampling and the plot methods) for the determination of the rate of degradation. LÄS MER

  4. 14. Educational technology for visualisation in upper secondary physics education : The case of GeoGebra

    Författare :Lorena Solvang; Jesper Haglund; Niklas Gericke; Ellen Karoline Henriksen; Karlstads universitet; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Representational competence; physics education; GeoGebra; Pedagogiskt arbete; Educational Work;

    Sammanfattning : In order to contribute to our understanding of how technologies can be used to visualise physical phenomena in order to support teaching and learning of the phenomena at hand, this licentiate thesis explores the ways in which visual representations created with GeoGebra can be used in upper-secondary physics education. In addition, this thesis provides a new model that can be used to characterise students’ representational competence. LÄS MER

  5. 15. Residual and critical saturation in geological storage of CO2 : results from field studies, pore-network modelling and laboratory experiments

    Författare :Ramin Moghadasi; Auli Niemi; Philip Ringrose; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Geological CO2 storage; Residual trapping; Gas remobilization; Field experiment; Numerical modelling; Pore-network modelling; Pore-scale imaging;

    Sammanfattning : Geological storage of CO2 in deep saline aquifers is a promising technology in the combat to reduce the atmospheric emissions of CO2. A critical component in this solution is the estimation of aquifer’s in situ capability to store CO2. LÄS MER
