  1. 1. Monoaminergic modulation in spinal reflex pathways from group I afferents

    Författare :Ingela Hammar; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :primary afferents; spinal interneurones; ventral spinocerebellar tract neurones; noradrenaline; serotonin; cat;

    Sammanfattning : Serotonin and noradrenaline are known to play an important part in modulation of spinal neuronal networks. Group I muscle afferents mediate information on dynamic changes of muscle length and tension, and modulation of actions from these afferents could be of importance for the execution of movements. 2. 2. Neuronal networks involved in low back pain; experimental studies

    Författare :Elin Nilsson; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; low back pain; disc herniation; pyramidal tract; reticulospinal tract; longissimus muscle; nucleus pulposus; VPL; thalamus; rat; cat;

    Sammanfattning : Low back pain is a common cause of disability, with a lifetime prevalence of up to 80%. A lumbar disc herniation, involving a bulging disc and/or leakage of the intervertebral disc’s nucleus pulposus, may be a possible cause of back and sciatic pain. Low back pain has also been associated with dysfunctional control of the paraspinal muscles. LÄS MER

  3. 3. NO PAIN, STILL GAIN- cross-modality development learning guided by spinal spontaneous activity

    Författare :Alexandra Waldenström Ellervik; Neurofysiologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; neuropsykologi; neurofysiologi; Neurologi; Neurology; neuropsychology; development; spinal cord; activity-dependent learning and memory; pain; somatosensory; neurophysiology;

    Sammanfattning : Recent studies indicate that experience dependent mechanisms shape the pain system during the development. In view of that painful stimuli are rare during development it is not clear how this is accomplished. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Modulation of pain by immune factors : a study on interferon-g and its receptor in nociceptive transmission

    Författare :Kristina S Vikman; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Cytokines; interferon-gamma; dorsal horn; hypersensitivity; nociceptive transmission; pain; GluR1; AMPA receptor; disinhibition; spontaneous activity; primary cell culture; two-compartment model; spinal cord.;

    Sammanfattning : Immune cytokines have been implicated as important neuromodulators, contributing to neuronal plasticity both in the adult and developing nervous system. In addition, they have been assigned a potential role in the generation of pathological pain, which may occur as a severe symptom following disease states in the nervous system. LÄS MER
