1. Protection of Personnel in Peace Operations : The Role of the 'Safety Convention' against the Background of General International Law
Sammanfattning : The 1994 Convention on the Safety of United Nations and Associated Personnel (Safety Convention) was the first multilateral convention to deal specifically with the protection of personnel engaged in peace operations. 2. The Life and Times of Targeted Killing
Sammanfattning : Against the background of the ongoing shift in the perception of the legality and legitimacy of extraterritorial lethal force in counterterrorism, this thesis analyses the emergence of so-called “targeted killing” in the history of Israel and the US, as well as in international law. It finds that the relationship between targeted killing and law, particularly international law, is not a straightforward case of more or less determinate and legally binding norms being applied to state measures adopted in situations of insecurity (in this case, those of the second Intifada and 9/11) but rather one of a much longer and mutually productive relationship. 3. HIV-1/HCV co-infection : immunity and viral dynamics

4. Humoral immunity to recombinant human autoantigens in organ-specific autoimmune disease
Sammanfattning : Insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus (IDDM) and idiopathic Addison's disease are organ-specific autoimmune diseases characterized by the presence of circulating autoantibodies. The role of autoantibodies in the pathogenesis of these diseases is not fully understood, but their presence can be used as a marker for diagnosis and prediction. LÄS MER
5. From risk indices to reconstitution of immunity : studies of outcome-related factors in patients undergoing allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation
Sammanfattning : Allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT) is a potent immunotherapeutic procedure which has the possibility to cure otherwise lethal hematological diseases. Its usability in clinical practice is limited by tangible risks of detrimental transplantation-related complications. LÄS MER
