1. Methods for the Assessment of Long-Lived Radionuclides in Humans Resulting from Nuclear Activities or Accidents - Fission track analysis of trace-amounts 239Pu and a copper hexacyanoferrate kit for monitoring radiocaesium
Sammanfattning : Fission track analysis (FTA) was developed to be applied to ultra-low levels of 239Pu in bioassay samples. An analytical protocol was established for the FTA processing. The detection limit was determined to 1.5 µBq and the calibration constant was 24 fission fragments per µBq 239Pu. LÄS MER
2. Diagnosing hyper- and hypocortisolism using saliva samples : pitfalls and how to avoid them
Sammanfattning : Background: Cushing's syndrome (CS) is caused by high cortisol secretion whereas insufficient cortisol secretion is called adrenal insufficiency (AI). Both are rare diseases with substantial diagnostic delay, and high morbidity and mortality even though effective treatment is available. LÄS MER
3. Mass Spectrometry of Non-protein Amino Acids : BMAA and Neurodegenerative Diseases
Sammanfattning : Neurodegenerative diseases have been shown to correlate positively with an ageing population. The most common neurodegenerative diseases are amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), Parkinson’s disease and Alzheimer’s disease. LÄS MER
4. Sulphide mineral collectors adsorbed on a ZnS internal reflection element : an infrared linear dichroism study
Sammanfattning : Separation and concentration of minerals by flotation is a well-known industrial process. In this process collector chemicals are used to modify the mineral surface to increase the hydrophobicity of the mineral particles. LÄS MER
5. On Gas Contaminants, and Bipolar Plates in Proton Exchange Membrane Fuel Cells
Sammanfattning : The proton exchange membrane (PEM) fuel cell is an electrochemical device that converts chemical energy into electrical energy through two electrocatalytic reactions. The most common catalyst used is platinum on carbon (Pt/C), which has shown the best performance in the fuel cell until now. LÄS MER
