  1. 1. Body fat regulating neuropeptides: relation to interleukines and gut microbiota

    Författare :Erik Schéle; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; IL-6; IL-6 receptor a; obesity; hypothalamus; brainstem; immunohistochemistry;

    Sammanfattning : Previous studies have shown that mice lacking interleukin-6 (IL-6), an important cytokine in the immune system, develop obesity, and that central, but not peripheral, administration of IL-6 induces energy expenditure. These findings suggest that IL-6 suppresses fat mass through the central nervous system. LÄS MER

  2. 2. On obesity in acute pancreatitis

    Författare :Ralf Segersvärd; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Acute pancreatitis; animal; cytokines; dietary fats; fatty liver; endotoxin; hypertriglyceridemia; interleukines; lipopolysaccharides; liver diseases; mice; mortality; obesity; oxidative stress; pancreas; survival; tumor necrosis factor; rats; UCP2; uncoupling proteins.;

    Sammanfattning : Over-nutrition is one of today s most visible public health problems. Currently over 40% of the Swedish population is either overweight or obese. Acute pancreatitis (AP) is an acute inflammatory process of the pancreas with variable involvement of regional tissues and/or remote organ systems. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Affinity biosensors based on a capacitive transducer

    Författare :Christine Berggren; Centrum för analys och syntes; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; self-assembled monolayers; capacitance; heavy metal ion; non-labeled; nucleic acid; DNA biosensor; Biosensor; immunosensor; Analytical chemistry; Analytisk kemi;

    Sammanfattning : Capacitive biosensors were developed for several analytes such as hormones, interleukines, viruses and heavy metal ions. The sensing surfaces were prepared by immobilizing the biorecognition element to self-assembled monolayers (SAMs) on gold. SAMs form spontaneously on gold by adsorption of thiols, sulfides or disulfides. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Nutrition in acute pancreatitis - influence on gut barrier and inflammatory response

    Författare :Gunilla Eckerwall; Lund Kirurgi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Surgery; orthopaedics; traumatology; Kirurgi; ortopedi; Medicin människa och djur ; intestinal permeability; nasogastric; acute inflammation; dietary fiber; Medicine human and vertebrates ; immediate oral feeding; fluid resuscitation; Acute pancreatitis; enteral nutrition; traumatologi;

    Sammanfattning : Acute pancreatitis (AP) is associated with metabolic changes, acute inflammatory response and increased gut permeability. In AP, traditional treatment has been initial fasting on purpose to avoid activation of proteolytic enzymes and pancreatic enzyme secretion. LÄS MER
