  1. 1. Aspects of interferon alpha signalling in hematopoetic cells

    Författare :Lennart Carlsson; erik lundgren; Ulrich Kalinke; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Molecular biology; interferon; human; B-lymphocyte; survival; proliferation; myeloma; Molekylärbiologi; Molecular biology; Molekylärbiologi; molekylärbiologi; Molecular Biology;

    Sammanfattning : The type I interferons (IFN) are a family of cytokines with pleiothropic activities that include inhibition of viral replication, cell proliferation and activation of the immune system. These properties give the IFNs important physiological and pathological roles in infection and cancer and have led to their therapeutic use for many clinical conditions. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Immune tolerance by interferon-alpha in experimental arthritis

    Författare :Jaya Prakash Chalise; Mattias Magnusson; Thomas Skogh; Richard O Williams; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : Type I Interferons (mainly IFN-α & IFN-β) belong to a family of cytokines that possess strong antiviral and immunomodulatory properties. Pro- and/or anti-inflammatory effects of type I IFN have been observed in infectious diseases and several autoimmune diseases including SLE, MS, RA and experimental models thereof, but what defines either outcome is largely obscure. 3. 3. Interferon-alpha based treatment of metastatic malignant melanoma : Effect of immune parameters of importance for monitoring immunotherapy

    Författare :Annika Håkansson; Sten Nilsson; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICINE; MEDICIN;

    Sammanfattning : Cutaneous malignant melanoma is a rapidly increasing disease. Most patients are cured by surgical excision of their primary tumour, but for patients with metastatic disease the prognosis is still very poor despite various attempts with chemotherapeutic agents, and during the last decade with immunotherapy, using several different biological agents alone or in combination. 4. 4. On the pro-apoptotic signaling induced by interferon-alpha

    Författare :Linn Hjortsberg; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Interferon-alpha (IFNalpha) is a pleiotropic cytokine which has been used as an active drug in the treatment of malignant diseases for almost five decades. It has shown beneficial results in several hematological malignancies, as well as solid tumors, including hairy cell leukemia, multiple myeloma, chronic myeloid leukemia, renal carcinoma and malignant melanoma. 5. 5. Signaling and regulation of cysteinyl leukotriene receptors in intestinal epithelial cells and colon cancer

    Författare :Astrid Bengtsson; Malmö Cellpatologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; TNF alpha; COX-2; interferon alpha; all-trans retinoic acid; EGF; inflammation; colorectal cancer; CysLT2R; Leukotriene; CysLT1R;

    Sammanfattning : Colorectal cancer is the third most common type of cancer, and the second leading cause of cancer-related deaths in the Western world. Chronic inflammation, such as inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD), increases the risk of cancer. Cysteinyl leukotrienes are pro-inflammatory mediators that are involved in IBD. LÄS MER
