16. Properties of Interfacial Proteinaceous Films with Emphasis on Oral Systems
Sammanfattning : The present thesis addresses three issues related to proteinaceous films at solid/liquid interfaces: adsorption, lubrication and enzymatic interactions. Most of the work has been devoted to oral systems. In addition, gelatin has been investigated as a model protein. LÄS MER
17. Dynamic interactions of interfacial polymers
Sammanfattning : The relationship between the amount and conformation of apolymer at the solid-liquid interface, and the resultinginteraction forces between two such surfaces has beeninvestigated. With a degree of control of the polymerconformation, by varying the temperature, solvent quality, polymer charge density etc, it has been possible to measure andinterpret the resulting changes in the surface interactions. 18. Electro-Interfacial Composition Control by Ionic Liquid Technology : Nanostructure, Self-Assembly, and Friction
Sammanfattning : Given the potential of ionic liquids (ILs) for batteries, supercapacitors and advanced lubricants, it is crucial to understand how electric fields affect the interfacial behaviour in IL-solvent systems and the intricate relationship between nanostructure and tribotronic properties. This thesis investigates the structural and compositional changes of ILs with different solvents at electrified interfaces. LÄS MER
19. Hydrolytic Synthesis and Physicochemical Properties of TiO2 Nanoparticles: Fundamentals and Applications
Sammanfattning : Titanium dioxide (TiO2) nanoparticles were synthesized via the hydrolysis of TiCl4 in order to produce clean, surfactant-free oxide surfaces. By controlling the synthesis and aging conditions, stable particles with well-defined size distributions were obtained. LÄS MER
20. Dynamical properties of interfacial water and its role for biomolecular dynamics
Sammanfattning : Water is the foundation of life, and without it life as we know it would not exist. An organism consists to a large extent of water, and apart from a few larger reservoirs, a large fraction of the water in a body is closely associated with surfaces of biomolecules of different kinds. This water is denoted biological water. LÄS MER
