  1. 16. Poly(Ethylene Oxide) Based Bottle-Brush Polymers and their Interaction with the Anionic Surfactant Sodium Dodecyl Sulphate : Solution and Interfacial Properties

    Författare :Joseph Iruthayaraj; Per M. Claesson; Regine v. Klitzing; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; PEO brush polymers; brush polymers; PEO; poly ethylene oxide ; polymer-surfactant; sodium dodecyl sulphate SDS ; Ellipsomtery; PEO-SDS interactions; Surface and colloid chemistry; Yt- och kolloidkemi;

    Sammanfattning : The aim of this thesis work is to study the physico-chemical properties of poly(ethylene oxide), PEO, based brush polymers both in solution and at solid/aqueous interfaces. The importance of studying the surface properties of brush polymers can be related to a broad spectrum of interfacial-related applications such as colloidal stability, lubrication, detergency, protein repellency to name a few. 2. 17. Nanostructured surfaces created by the interactions of dendrimers and oppositely charged amphiphiles

    Författare :Marianna Yanez; Fysikalisk kemi; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; PAMAM; Surfactant; SDS; Lipid; Bilayer; Model Biomembrane; Nucleolipid; DLPA; DLPU; DNA; RNA; Neutron Reflectometry; Poly amidoamine ; Interface; Adsorption; Polyelectrolyte;

    Sammanfattning : The research described in this thesis aims to understand the interactions between cationic poly(amidoamine) (PAMAM) dendrimers and small oppositely charged amphiphiles at the solid-liquid and air-liquid interfaces in relation to the bulk solution behavior. There is high interest in PAMAM dendrimers because they are well-defined polymers with a hierarchical architecture which makes them promising materials as nanocapsules and gene vectors. LÄS MER

  3. 18. Controlling Electronic and Geometrical Structure of Honeycomb-Lattice Materials Supported on Metal Substrates : Graphene and Hexagonal Boron Nitride

    Författare :Nikolay Vinogradov; Nils Mårtensson; Karsten Horn; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; graphene; h-BN; electronic structure; adsorption; doping; nano-templates; PES; NEXAFS; LEEM; STM; Physics with spec. in Atomic; Molecular and Condensed Matter Physics; Fysik med inriktning mot atom- molekyl- och kondenserande materiens fysik;

    Sammanfattning : The present thesis is focused on various methods of controlling electronic and geometrical structure of two-dimensional overlayers adsorbed on metal surfaces exemplified by graphene and hexagonal boron nitride (h-BN) grown on transition metal (TM) substrates. Combining synchrotron-radiation-based spectroscopic and various microscopic techniques with in situ sample preparation, we are able to trace the evolution of overlayer electronic and geometrical properties in overlayer/substrate systems, as well as changes of interfacial interaction in the latter. 4. 19. Wheat Storage Proteins at Interfaces

    Författare :Jörgen Örnebro; Livsmedelsteknik; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Food and drink technology; adsorption; surfaces; interfaces; gliadins; glutenins; Livsmedelsteknik;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis deals with the properties of wheat storage proteins at interfaces. These proteins are the main constituents of gluten and are recognised for their importance in breadmaking. LÄS MER

  5. 20. Physico-chemical characterisation of novel surfactants

    Författare :Britta M. Folmer; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :Natural raw materials; novel hydrophobes; physico-chemical characterisation; micelles; interfacial adsorption; liquid crystals; enzymes; polymers; complex formation; foam;

    Sammanfattning : The aim of this thesis has been to investigate thephysico-chemical behaviour of novel surfactants based onnatural raw materials. Micellization properties, adsorptionatinterfaces and dynamic aspects have been studied. In additioncomplex formation of surfactants with enzymes and polymers hasbeen evaluated. LÄS MER
