  1. 21. Effects of Safety Measures for Pedestrians and Cyclists at Crossing Facilities on Arterial Roads

    Författare :Mohsen Towliat; Institutionen för teknik och samhälle; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Transport technology; arterial roads; interaction points; Keywords: traffic safety; pedestrian and cyclist safety; conflict study; behavioural study; experimental site; control site; physical measure; evaluation design; variable message sign; pedestrian and cycle crossing; speed measurement.; 30 50 road environment; Transportteknik; Road transport technology; Vägtransportteknik;

    Sammanfattning : The principal aims of this thesis are to define suitable measures for safer pedestrian and cycle crossings on arterial roads, to implement these measures on a large scale and to acquire an insight into their effects on road users' safety, experiences, mobility and the environment, by creating a 30 km/h milieu at the above crossings. Two characteristically different types of measures, physical measures and variable message signs, based on three principles, lower speed, no priority and improved and relevant information, are tested within the framework of this project. 2. 22. Prediction of Medical Device Usability Problems and Use Errors - An Improved Analytical Methodical Approach

    Författare :Lars-Ola Bligård; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Methodological Research; Usability; Human Error; Medical Equipment;

    Sammanfattning : The aim of medical care is to make people healthier, and this is pursued with great success today. Unfortunately, medical care also entails injuries to certain patients. Some of these injuries are caused by use errors. Research has shown that lack of usability of medical equipment is a strongly contributing cause of use errors. LÄS MER

  3. 23. Data-driven Methods for Spoken Dialogue Systems : Applications in Language Understanding, Turn-taking, Error Detection, and Knowledge Acquisition

    Författare :Raveesh Meena; Gabriel Skantze; Joakim Gustafson; Helen Hastie; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Language Understanding; Turn-taking; Error Detection; Knowledge Acquisition; Crowdsourcing; semantisk tolkning talspråk; turtagning i dialogsystem; fel och missförstånd; crowdsourcing; dialogsystem; Tal- och musikkommunikation; Speech and Music Communication;

    Sammanfattning : Spoken dialogue systems are application interfaces that enable humans to interact with computers using spoken natural language. A major challenge for these systems is dealing with the ubiquity of variability—in user behavior, in the performance of the various speech and language processing sub-components, and in the dynamics of the task domain. 4. 24. Assessing Shared Strategic Understanding

    Författare :Peter Berggren; Björn JE Johansson; Nils Dahlbäck; Tim Grant; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Team; team cognition; shared understanding; method development;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis describes the development of an instrument for assessing shared understanding in teams. The purpose was to develop an instrument that would be usable, understandable, objective, flexible and self-explanatory. LÄS MER

  5. 25. Cognition reversed : Robot learning from demonstration

    Författare :Erik Billing; Lars Erik Janlert; Thomas Hellström; Tom Ziemke; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Computer science; Datavetenskap; Cognitive science; Kognitionsvetenskap; computer and systems sciences; data- och systemvetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : The work presented in this thesis investigates techniques for learning from demonstration (LFD). LFD is a well established approach to robot learning, where a teacher demonstrates a behavior to a robot pupil. This thesis focuses on LFD where a human teacher demonstrates a behavior by controlling the robot via teleoperation. LÄS MER
