  1. 11. Radiant Textiles : A framework for designing with electromagnetic phenomena

    Författare :Erin Lewis; Delia Dumitrescu; Katharina Bredies; Högskolan i Borås; []
    Nyckelord :HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; smart textiles; interaction design; textile interaction; textile; electronic; electromagnetism electromagnetic; design methods; artistic research; Textiles and Fashion Design ; Textil och mode konstnärlig ;

    Sammanfattning : The design of smart, interactive, computational, and electronic textiles involves working with unknown variables that expand the tangible dimensions of textiles. Non-visual concepts such as electromagnetic fields, electrical current, computational code, and the temporal attributes of materials that exhibit dynamic qualities require that textile designers be able to perceive and manipulate domains of the textile that extend beyond its conventional forms of expression. 2. 12. Simple haptics : Sketching perspectives for the design of haptic interactions

    Författare :Camille Moussette; Daniel Fällman; Bill Buxton; William Verplank; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; interaction design; haptics; haptic interactions; sketching; sketching in hardware; prototypes; prototyping; industrial design; human computer interaction; design research; research through desgin;

    Sammanfattning : Historically, haptics—all different aspects of the sense of touch and its study—has developed around very technical and scientific inquiries. Despite considerable haptic research advances and the obviousness of haptics in everyday life, this modality remains mostly foreign and unfamiliar to designers. LÄS MER

  3. 13. Towards automated conceptual design space exploration

    Författare :Jakob Müller; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Engineering Design; Model Abstraction; Function Modelling; Knowledge Based Engineering; Model Based Design; Function-Means Modelling; Geometry Modelling; Design Space Exploration; Product Development; Systems Engineering; Design Automation; Aerospace;

    Sammanfattning : In mature and safety-concerned industries, such as the aerospace industry, product development is often incremental and design solutions are limited to improvements of an existing design. Radical changes to the known product architecture are avoided, for reasons of reliability, lack of technology or lack of design space exploration (DSE) methods. LÄS MER

  4. 14. Design for Service: A framework for articulating designers’ contribution as interpreter of users’ experience

    Författare :Katarina Wetter Edman; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Design for Service; design practice; service logic; service design; user involvement user centered design; materialization; narrative; experience; design for service;

    Sammanfattning : During the past approximately 15 years designers have paid increasing attention to service and changes in our society, resulting in a new design discipline – service design. In parallel, designers’ contributions to service development and innovation have been brought forward, often emphasizing designers’ capability of involving users, acting in and through multidisciplinary teams and using visualization skills in these situations. 5. 15. Shape and Being Shaped : Sketching with Haptics in Soma Design

    Författare :Charles Windlin; Kristina Höök; Jarmo Laaksolahti; Anders Lundström; Bill Buxton; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Sketching; Soma Design; Constructive Design Research; Haptic Interaction Design; first-person; Människa-datorinteraktion; Human-computer Interaction;

    Sammanfattning : Sketching is an integral part of the design process, and it often occurs in the early ideation phase where the focus is on expressing ideas, thoughts, and emotions, allowing them to take shape and making it possible to share them with others to propel the design process forwards. In principle, sketching is a process of externalising thoughts into visualisations, and it influences the creator and collaborators by enabling them to realise and reflect on the possibility and viability of their ideas and develop them further by adding to or subtracting from the sketches.
