  1. 6. Laminins and alpha11 integrin in the human eye : importance in development and disease

    Författare :Berit Byström; Fatima Pedrosa Domellöf; Ulf Stenevi; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; basement membranes; extracellular matrix; laminin; integrin; cornea; development; keratoconus; wound healing; remodeling; immunohistochemistry; Ophtalmiatrics; Oftalmiatrik;

    Sammanfattning : The extracellular matrix (ECM) offers a protective shelter for cells and provides signaling paths important for cell to cell communication. ECM consists of basement membranes (BM) and interstitial matrix. BMs provide mechanical support for parenchymal cells, influence cell proliferation, survival, migration and differentiation. LÄS MER

  2. 7. Muscle cell integrins in vitro and in vivo : Identification and characterisation of a novel integrin, α11β1

    Författare :Teet Velling; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Cell and molecular biology; integrins; α7 integrin; α11 integrin; embryonic development; muscle; Cell- och molekylärbiologi; Cell and molecular biology; Cell- och molekylärbiologi; molekylär cellbiologi; Molecular Cellbiology;

    Sammanfattning : Integrins are heterodimeric receptors composed of non-covalently associated αand β subunits which have distinct functions on different cell types. α7β1integrin is an important laminin receptor in skeletal muscle. The mRNA andprotein expression patterns of α7A and α7B splice variants during mousedevelopment were studied. LÄS MER

  3. 8. Chondrocyte-matrix interactions: with emphasis on the collagen binding integrin a10ß1

    Författare :Lisbet Camper; Lunds universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; muscle system; Skeleton; chondrocyte; integrin; cartilage; chondroadherin; collagen; Biochemistry; metabolism; Biokemi; reumatologi; muskelsystem; Skelett; rheumatology locomotion;

    Sammanfattning : The work in this thesis has been focused on chondrocyte integrins and their interaction with the matrix proteins chondroadherin (CHAD) and collagen type II (CII). Affinity purification of CHAD-binding proteins from chondrocyte lysate, followed by immunoprecipitation of EDTA-eluted material identified alpha2beta1 as a CHAD-binding integrin. LÄS MER

  4. 9. The mechanism of integrin inactivation and cell signalling induced by c-erbB2, an oncogenic growth factor receptor

    Författare :Shahram Hedjazifar; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; c-erbB2; integrin á2â1; cell-matrix; integrin conformation; PKB; ERK; Rho; ILK; Nck-2;

    Sammanfattning : Overexpression of the oncogenic growth factor receptor, c-erbB2, is linked with poor prognosis in breast carcinomas and is used as a target for therapeutic strategies. To elucidate the mechanism underlying the tumorigenic action of an elevated c-erbB2 level, leading to homodimerization and activation, we have used an inducible system where a hybrid receptor consisting of the cytoplasmic and transmembrane domains of c-erbB2 fused to the extracellular domain of the trkA NGF receptor has been stably transfected into an immortalized mammary epithelial cell line. 5. 10. Integrin αVβ3-Directed Contraction by Connective Tissue Cells : Role in Control of Interstitial Fluid Pressure and Modulation by Bacterial Proteins

    Författare :Åsa Lidén; Kristofer Rubin; Karl-Eric Magnusson; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Biochemistry; interstitial fluid pressure; collagen gel contraction; integrin αVβ3; septic shock; fibronectin; Biokemi; Biochemistry; Biokemi;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis aimed at studying mechanisms involved in control of tissue fluid homeostasis during inflammation.The interstitial fluid pressure (PIF) is of importance for control of tissue fluid balance. A lowering of PIF in vivo will result in a transport of fluid from the circulation into the tissue, leading to edema. LÄS MER
