1. Structural and Functional Aspects of β1 Integrin Signalling
Sammanfattning : Integrins are transmembrane glycoproteins primarily mediating interactions of cells with the extracellular matrix. Each receptor is a complex of one α- and one β-subunit with affinity for a diverse set of ligands. LÄS MER
2. Functional studies of integrin subunit 1 and its cytoplasmic domain
Sammanfattning : Integrin subunit β1 can form functional heterodimeric receptors together with at least 11different a subunits. These integrins are the main cellular receptors for extracellular matrixproteins such as collagens, fibronectin, laminins, and others, and they are necessary fornormal embryonal development. LÄS MER
3. The mechanism of integrin inactivation and cell signalling induced by c-erbB2, an oncogenic growth factor receptor
Sammanfattning : Overexpression of the oncogenic growth factor receptor, c-erbB2, is linked with poor prognosis in breast carcinomas and is used as a target for therapeutic strategies. To elucidate the mechanism underlying the tumorigenic action of an elevated c-erbB2 level, leading to homodimerization and activation, we have used an inducible system where a hybrid receptor consisting of the cytoplasmic and transmembrane domains of c-erbB2 fused to the extracellular domain of the trkA NGF receptor has been stably transfected into an immortalized mammary epithelial cell line. 4. Role of integrin signaling in cell proliferation and survival
Sammanfattning : Integrins function as transmembrane cell adhesion receptors for the surrounding extracellular matrix (ECM). Within the tissues, integrins attach the cells to the surrounding ECM and sense the ECM environment by triggering diverse arrays of signaling pathways that are essential for the control of many central cellular functions, including cell proliferation and survival. 5. Endogenous and microbial modulators of inflammation
Sammanfattning : Cardiometabolic disease is characterized by dysregulated, chronic inflammation, that may result from impaired resolution pathways or alterations in the gut microbiota. Thus, restoring specialized pro-resolving mediators (SPMs) or intestinal bacteria with immunomodulatory properties represent potential therapeutic strategies for patients. LÄS MER
