  1. 1. Targeting insulin-like growth factor-1 receptor in cancer

    Detta är en avhandling från Stockholm : Karolinska Institutet, Department of Oncology-Pathology

    Författare :Ada Girnita; Karolinska Institutet.; Karolinska Institutet.; [2004]
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; IGF1; IGF-1R; MDM2; p53; PPP; Tamoxifen; tyrosine kinase inhibitors; ubiquitin;

    Sammanfattning : Cancer is a multi-step process where the accumulation of several genetic and epigenetic alterations drives the transformation of a normal cell to a malignant cell, skipping the normal control of defense, repair and apoptosis. During the selection process towards a malignant phenotype, the transforming cells make use of normal (physiological) extracellular signaling pathways to create growth advantage over normal cells. 2. 2. Insulin-like growth factor 1 receptor, novel functions and future possibilities

    Detta är en avhandling från Stockholm : Karolinska Institutet, Dept of Oncology-Pathology

    Författare :Ahmed Waraky; Karolinska Institutet.; Karolinska Institutet.; [2017]
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : Insulin like growth factor-1 receptor (IGF-1R) has been shown to be important for cancer cell growth and survival, and is often overexpressed in malignant and premalignant tissues. Ligand binding to IGF-1R induces transphosphorylation and activation of the receptor, leading to subsequent activation of the phosphatidyl inositol-3 kinase (PI3K), the mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK) and the 14-3-3 pathways. 3. 3. Regulation of insulin-like growth factor-1 receptor expression and signaling

    Detta är en avhandling från Stockholm : Karolinska Institutet, Department of Oncology-Pathology

    Författare :Radu Vasilcanu; Karolinska Institutet.; Karolinska Institutet.; [2007]
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; IGF-1R; â-arrestins; MDM2; ubiquitination; internalization;

    Sammanfattning : Insulin-like growth factor-1 receptor (IGF-1R), a member of the insulin receptor tyrosine kinase family is a broadly expressed transmembrane receptor that plays a key role in malignant cell growth. IGF-1R transmits information provided by extracellular stimuli into intracellular signaling pathways resulting in the subsequent regulation of various effector systems. LÄS MER

  4. 4. On testosterone during alcohol withdrawal in men : effects on mood and insulin-like growth factor 1

    Detta är en avhandling från Stockholm : Karolinska Institutet, Department of Clinical Neuroscience, Occupational Therapy and Elderly Care Research (NEUROTEC)

    Författare :Jaan Ruusa; Karolinska Institutet.; Karolinska Institutet.; [2004]
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Ethyl alcohol; withdrawal; testosterone; insulin-like growth factor 1; mood;

    Sammanfattning : The decrease of testosterone levels after alcohol ingestion is seen in both non-alcoholic and alcohol dependent patients. Mood effects during hangover and alcohol detoxification are common symptoms. In ageing men a connection has been observed between lowered testosterone levels and depressive symptoms as well as cognitive impairment. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Pre-, peri- and postnatal influences on ophthalmologic outcome - a study on children born after intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI) and children born preterm

    Detta är en avhandling från Stockholm : Karolinska Institutet, Department of Clinical Neuroscience, Occupational Therapy and Elderly Care Research (NEUROTEC)

    Författare :Margareta Hök Wikstrand; Göteborgs universitet.; Gothenburg University.; [2009]
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; visual function; intracytoplasmic sperm injection; preterm birth; growth; insulin-like growth factor 1; postnatal development; ocular fundus morphology;

    Sammanfattning : The aims of the present study were to investigate the effects of prenatal factors in children born after intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI) and peri- and postnatal factors in children born preterm on visual function and ocular fundus morphology at school age. In the children born preterm the ophthalmologic outcomes, including optic nerve morphology were analysed in relation to gestational age (GA), birth weight (BW) standard deviation score (SDS), serum levels of insulin-like growth factor I (IGF-I), weight at week 32 (SDS), and weight, length and head circumference (SDS) at school age.
