16. Effects of growth factors on chondrocyte proliferation and differentiation
Sammanfattning : Longitudinal bone growth is regulated at the level of growth plate chondrocytes by circulating or locally produced hormones and growth factors. Present investigation focused on the effects of growth hormone (GH) and growth factors on chondrocyte proliferation and differentiation during pre- and postnatal cartilage development. LÄS MER
17. Molecular mechanisms involved in the growth of human uterine leiomyomas
Sammanfattning : Human uterine leiomyomas (fibroids) are benign neoplasms arising from uterine smooth muscle cells, and are suggested to be sex steroid dependent. The aim of this study was to investigate the molecular mechanisms by which sex steroids, mainly estrogen and progesterone, influence the growth of Ieiomyomas. LÄS MER
18. Maternal and neonatal anthropometry and growth factor expression and apoptosis in human placenta : a comparison between two populations
Sammanfattning : The insulin-like growth factors (IGFs), IGF-binding proteins (IGFBPs), and IGFBP proteases, are key endocrine regulators of somatic growth and cellular proliferation. IGFs are involved in growth both pre- and postnatally. LÄS MER
19. The expression and function of protein kinase C isoforms in differentiating neuroblastoma cells
Sammanfattning : The human neuroblastoma cell line SH-SY5Y can be induced to differentiate into a neuronal sympathetic phenotype after treatment with 16 nM 12-O-tetradecanoyl phorbol 13-acetate (TPA) in serum, or by a combination of the growth factors basic fibroblast growth factor and insulin-like growth factor-I (bFGF/IGF-I). SH-SY5Y cells stably transfected with TrkA, the nerve growth factor (NGF) receptor, differentiate in response to NGF. LÄS MER
20. Growth factors and their interaction in the regulation of vascular cells : with special reference to diabetes
Sammanfattning : Proliferation of vascular smooth muscle cells plays an important role in the development of atherosclerosis and in restenosis following balloon angioplasty. This study focuses on growth factors associated with diabetic vascular disease and their interaction in the regulation of vascular smooth muscle cell growth. LÄS MER
