21. The genetic background of gestational diabetes mellitus
Sammanfattning : The aims of this work is to better determine the genetic background of gestational diabetes (GDM) and to examine how specific genes affect the development of diabetes post partum. In the DiPiS (Diabetes Prediction in Skåne) study we typed for HLA-DQB1 alleled, the transcription factor 7-like 2(TCF7L2) rs7903146, rs12255372 and rs7901695 SNPs, the 1858 C>T SNP of the protein tyrosine phosphatase non-receptor 22 (PTPN22) gene and we tested for the presence of islet cell autoantibodies against glutamic acid decarboxylase 65 (GAD65), insulinoma-associated antigen 2 (IA-2) and insulin in women who had been diagnosed with GDM at least once during 2000-2004. 22. Immunogenetic studies in autoimmune endocrine diseases
Sammanfattning : Type 1 diabetes mellitus (T1DM) is an autoimmune disease characterised by Tlymphocyte infiltration of islets of Langerhans with consequent destruction of beta cells. A permissive genetic background is required for the development of the islet autoimmune process. LÄS MER
23. Autoimmune markers in autoimmune diabetes
Sammanfattning : Type 1 diabetes mellitus (T1DM) is an autoimmune disease, characterized by autoimmune mediated loss of insulin secreting Beta-cells. The disease is associated with certain HLA class 11 haplotypes. HLA DR3-DQ2 and DR4-DQ8 are positively while DQ6 (DQA1*0102-DQB1*0602) is negatively associated with the disease in Caucasians. LÄS MER
24. Humoral immunity to recombinant human autoantigens in organ-specific autoimmune disease
Sammanfattning : Insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus (IDDM) and idiopathic Addison's disease are organ-specific autoimmune diseases characterized by the presence of circulating autoantibodies. The role of autoantibodies in the pathogenesis of these diseases is not fully understood, but their presence can be used as a marker for diagnosis and prediction. LÄS MER
25. A study of biomarker analysis in association with type 1 diabetes and their shared features in rheumatoid arthritis
Sammanfattning : Type 1 diabetes (T1D) is mediated by abnormal immune system (autoimmunity) that targeting specifically to self insulin-producing cells (β-cells). People with T1D require treatments based on life-long insulin substitution. LÄS MER
