  1. 1. Aspects of ZnT8 autoimmunity in childhood type 1 diabetes

    Författare :Cecilia K Andersson; Pediatrisk endokrinologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Type 1 diabetes; Zinc transporter; ZnT8 autoantibodies; HLA; islet cell autoantibodies; GAD65 autoantibodies; IA-2 autoantibodies; insulin autoantibodies; glucose tolerance;

    Sammanfattning : Type 1 diabetes is one of the most common chronic diseases in childhood and adolescence with an increasing incidence worldwide. It is an autoimmune disease with many autoimmune markers, where the zinc transporter 8 autoantibody (ZnT8A) is the most recent autoantibody discovered. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Autoantibodies as markers of beta-cell autoimmunity in children

    Författare :Hanna Holmberg; Johnny Ludvigsson; Mona Landin-Olsson; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Type 1 diabetes; Autoantibodies; Beta-cell autoimmunity; Children; Breast-feeding; HLA haplotypes; Insulin gene; Paediatric medicine; Pediatrisk medicin;

    Sammanfattning : Type 1 diabetes (T1D) is a chronic disease caused by destruction of the insulin producing beta-cells in the pancreas. The incidence of T1D has increased rapidly, especially in the Western world and among young children. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Immunogenetics of Childhood Type 1 Diabetes in Immigrant Patients in Sweden. Migration Studies on Type 1 Diabetes

    Författare :Ahmed Delli; Celiaki och diabetes; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Diabetes; Type 1 Diabetes; Childhood; Human Leukocyte Antigen HLA ; Islet autoantibodies; Zinc Transporter 8 ZnT8 ; Islet antigen IA2- ; Glutamic Acid Decarboxylase 65 GAD65; Insulin; Migration.;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis examined whether the offspring of immigrants (non-Swedes) to Sweden are at increased risk of Type 1 Diabetes (T1D) when they are born or live in Sweden. It also evaluated if their T1D and T2D-related genes differed from Swedish patients and whether this genetic heritage determined the types and existence of islet autoantibodies at time of diagnosis and affected the classification of diabetes. 4. 4. Organ-specific autoantibodies in Addison's disease and autoimmune polyendocrine syndrome type I

    Författare :Annika Söderbergh; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Medical sciences; Addison s disease; APS I; Down syndrome; AIRE; autoantibodies; autoantigens; autoimmunity; MEDICIN OCH VÅRD; MEDICINE; MEDICIN; Medicine; medicin;

    Sammanfattning : Assessment of autoantibodies is a valuable tool in the diagnostic procedure of autoimmune diseases. The aim of this study was to investigate the prevalence of different autoantibodies and their associations with disease manifestations in patients with Addison's disease and autoimmune polyendocrine syndrome type I (APS I). Författare :ÅsaLinda Lethagen; diabetes och endokrinologi Genomik; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; metabolic syndrome; insulin sensitivity; insulin secretion; GADabs; glutamic acid decarboxylase autoantibodies; Type 2 diabetes; LADA; Type 1 diabetes; IDDM1; IDDM2; Endocrinology; secreting systems; diabetology; Endokrinologi; sekretion; diabetologi;

    Sammanfattning : Latent autoimmune diabetes in adults (LADA) comprises about 10% of patients initially diagnosed with type 2 diabetes but who are positive for pancreatic islet antibodies, especially to glutamic acid decarboxylase (GADabs). The present studies focused on clinical, genetic and metabolic characterisation of patients with LADA. LÄS MER
