11. Structural study of nano-structured materials: electron crystallography approaches
Sammanfattning : The structural analysis serves as a bridge to link the structure of materials to their properties. Revealing the structure details allows a better understanding on the growth mechanisms and properties of materials, and a further designed synthesis of functional materials. LÄS MER
12. Preparation, structure and properties of Hg, Tl-containing high-temperature superconductors
Sammanfattning : Powder samples with the general composition (Tl,Hg)2(Ba,Sr)2(Sr,Ca)Cu2O8-d, abbreviated 2212, were synthesised by solid-state reaction of metal oxides in closed silica ampoules. Depending on the relative amounts of Ba, Sr, and Ca, the superconducting transition temperature, Tc, varied significantly (45-100 K). LÄS MER
13. Synthesis and properties of substituted Hg-based superconductors
Sammanfattning : This thesis is focused on studies of substituted Hg-based superconducting copper oxides ((Hg1-xMx)Ba2Can-1CunO2n+2+δ). These compounds are promising objects of investigation, not only from a fundamental point of view but also because of their high values of superconducting transition temperature (Tc) and irreversibility field (Hirr). 14. Inorganic and organic polymer-grafted nanoparticles : their nanocomposites and characterization
Sammanfattning : Nanocomposites (NCs) have been widely studied in the past decades due to the promising properties that nanoparticles (NPs) offer to a polymer matrix, such as increased thermal stability and non-linear electrical resistivity. It has also been shown that the interphase between the two components is the key to achieving the desired improvements. LÄS MER
15. Hybrid nanoadsorbents for extraction and separation of rare earth elements in solution
Sammanfattning : Rare Earth Elements (REE) are a group of 17 metals (those known as lanthanides plus Ytrium and Scandium), which are increasingly important for many emerging modern applications. This work is focused on the development of high performance new magnetic silica based nanoadsorbents which are surface functionalized for efficient uptake and separation of REE in solution. LÄS MER
