6. Biomaterials for Promoting Self-Healing of Bone Tissue
Sammanfattning : The present work addresses poor bone/implant integration and severe bone defects. In both conditions external stimuli is required for new bone to form. LÄS MER
7. In Vitro – In Vivo Correlation of Injectable Lipid Formulations
Sammanfattning : In order to develop new pharmaceuticals, to optimize pharmacotherapy and secure patient safety, documentation of the properties of pharmaceutical formulations is a most important process. A significant practical problem associated with pre-clinical evaluation of lipophilic substances with pharmacological properties is their low aqueous solubility. LÄS MER
8. Hyaluronan Derivatives and Injectable Gels for Tissue Engineering
Sammanfattning : The present work describes the preparation of hyaluronan derivatives and hydrogels with potential use in tissue engineering applications. A potentially injectable hydrogel consisting of hyaluronan and collagen was successfully used to grow neurons in vitro by encapsulation of neural stem and progenitor cells. LÄS MER
9. An injectable biphasic bone substitute in sinus augmentation
Sammanfattning : This thesis concerns a new synthetic, injectable bone substitute, Cerament™, primarily developed for treatment of vertebral fractures. The purpose of the thesis was to investigate the properties of the newbone substitute, that is, whether it can contribute to the generation of new bone formation needed for placement of future dental implants. 10. Novel injectable calcium sulfate depot formulations for local cancer treatment
Sammanfattning : In the present thesis, a novel drug delivery technology named NanoZolid® based on hydrating inorganic calcium sulfate, is investigated. NanoZolid is injected as a liquid suspension of calcium sulfate, which solidifies in vivo by hydration forming a biocompatible and bioresorbable depot that slowly dissolves and releases the active substance.
