1. Injectable Biomaterials for Spinal Applications
Sammanfattning : The use of injectable biomaterials is growing as the demands for minimally invasive procedures, and more easily applicable implants become higher, but their availability is still limited due to the difficulties associated to their design. Each year, more than 700,000 vertebral compression fractures (VCF’s) are reported in the US and 500,000 VCF’s in Europe due to primary osteoporosis only. 2. Bone Regeneration with Cell-free Injectable Scaffolds
Sammanfattning : Bone is a remarkable multifunctional tissue with the ability to regenerate and remodel without generating any scar tissue. However, bone loss due to injury or diseases can be a great challenge and affect the patient significantly. Autologous bone grafting is commonly used throughout the world. LÄS MER
3. Injectable calcium sulphate and calcium phosphate bone substitutes
Sammanfattning : Two formulations of biphasic injectable bone substitutes have been developed for the treatment of bone defects and stabilisation of fragility fractures. The first formulation consists of a calcium sulphate matrix with embedded hydroxyapatite (HA) particles to provide osteoconductivity. LÄS MER
4. Injectable Calcium Phosphate Bone Substitute In Distal Radial Fractures
Sammanfattning : Fractures of the distal end of the radius are common and occur in many different forms. The long-term results after conservative treatment of fracture of the distal end of the radius in younger adults with special reference to degenerative changes and function are investigated in 76 patients (Paper I). 5. Injectable Composite Hydrogels Based on Metal-Ligand Assembly for Biomedical Applications
Sammanfattning : This thesis presents new strategies to construct injectable hydrogels and their various biomedical applications, such as 3D printing, regenerative medicine and drug delivery. These hydrogels cross-linked by dynamic metal-ligand coordination bonds exhibit shear-thinning and self-healing properties, resulting in the unlimited time window for injection. LÄS MER
