  1. 21. Formation of the inhibitory KIR repertoire in human natural killer cells

    Författare :Sandra Andersson; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Natural killer (NK) cells are lymphocytes of the innate immune system that are able to secrete cytokines and detect virus infected and transformed cells. Contrary to T cells, NK cells recognize targets that lack expression of MHC class I molecules at the cell surface, a phenomenon referred to as “missing self” recognition. LÄS MER

  2. 22. Triggering and inhibitory molecules affecting target cell recognition by NK cells

    Författare :Margarita Salcedo; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :NK cell; MHC class 1; NKinhibitory receptors; costimulatory molecules ISBN 9 1-628-2643-3;

    Sammanfattning : NK cells were described originally for their ability to lyse certain tumor cell lines without prior immunization. MHC class I molecules have been shown to deliver a negative signal to NK cells preventing killing of target cells. This reaction is mediated via specific receptors on NK cells, referred to as KIR in man and Ly49 in mouse. LÄS MER

  3. 23. The Role of Inhibitory Control and Executive Functioning in Hyperactivity/ADHD

    Författare :Lisa Berlin; Erland Hjelmquist; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Psychology; ADHD; hyperactivity; inhibition; executive functioning; development; Psykologi; Psychology; Psykologi; Psychology; psykologi;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis examined inhibition, executive functioning and their possible relation to childhood problems of hyperactivity and inattention, in its clinical form referred to as Attention Deficit Hyper-activity Disorder (ADHD). Concurrent as well as longitudinal relations were of interest, and both clinical and non-clinical samples were studied. LÄS MER

  4. 24. Regulation of calcium flux by activating and inhibitory receptor crosstalk in NK cells

    Författare :Sridharan Ganesan; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : The birth of a new born child kicks off the immune system to be on call and to respond promptly to threats from the environment. Natural Killer cells, classified as a member of the innate lymphoid cell family, express various activating, inhibitory, adhesion and cytokine receptors as well as MHC class I molecules on their surfaces, by which they interact with surrounding cells and perform various immunological function. 5. 25. Expression of stimulatory and inhibitory molecules in interactions between natural killer cells neurons

    Författare :Eva Backström; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Nervous system; brain; neuron; NK cells; dorsal root ganglia; hippocampus; NKG2D; RAE 1; MULT1; nerve lesion; influenza virus; MCMV.;

    Sammanfattning : Natural killer (NK) cells are important effector cells of the innate and the early induced immune defense. In the nervous system they appear early during inflammation and have been ascribed a role in clearance of certain viral infections from the brain. NK cells are regulated by multiple signals transmitted via inhibitory and stimulatory receptors. LÄS MER
