  1. 1. Optimal strategies and information in foraging theory

    Författare :Emma Sernland; Högskolan i Skövde; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Bayesian foraging; information use; public information; prior information; negative binomial distribution; group foraging; decision-making; information updating; leaving strategy; Ecology; Ekologi; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; Other biology; Övrig biologi; Naturvetenskap; Natural sciences; information use; Bayesian foraging; public information; prior information; negative binomial distribution; group foraging; decision-making; information updating; leaving strategy; Ecology; Ekologi;

    Sammanfattning : In this thesis, I present both theoretical and empirical work where we have studied how humans and animals use information in situations where they need to continually update their information on the density of a resource. We have found that the amount of information, and the way the information is presented, are important factors for how well decisions are adapted to current circumstances. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Evaluating credal set theory as a belief framework in high-level information fusion for automated decision-making

    Författare :Alexander Karlsson; Sten F. Andler; Ronnie Johansson; Lars Karlsson; Galina Rogova; Örebro universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; High-level information fusion; belief framework; credal set theory; Bayesian theory; Computer science; Datavetenskap; TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIKVETENSKAP; Information technology; Informationsteknik; Datalogi; Computer and Systems Science; Teknik;

    Sammanfattning : High-level information fusion is a research field in which methods for achieving an overall understanding of the current situation in an environment of interest are studied. The ultimate goal of these methods is to provide effective decision-support for human or automated decision-making. LÄS MER

  3. 3. The Apparent Arbitrariness of Second-Order Probability Distributions

    Författare :David Sundgren; Love Ekenberg; Mats Danielson; Lev Utkin; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Computer and systems science; Data- och systemvetenskap; Computer and Systems Sciences; data- och systemvetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : Adequate representation of imprecise probabilities is a crucial and non-trivial problem in decision analysis. Second-order probability distributions is the model for imprecise probabilities whose merits are discussed in this thesis. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Optimal Scheduling for Timely Information in Communication Systems

    Författare :Ghafour Ahani; Di Yuan; Andreas Kassler; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; scheduling; optimization; communication systems; timely information;

    Sammanfattning : The explosive growth of data in information society poses significant challenges in the timely delivery of information in the context of communication networks. Hence, optimal utilization of scarce network resources is crucial. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Test Design for Finite Element Model Updating - Identifiable Parameters and Informative Test Data

    Författare :Andreas Linderholt; Thomas Abrahamsson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; modal tests; test design; identifiability; Fisher information; optimization; data informativeness; model updating; Maskinteknik;

    Sammanfattning : It is important to predict structural phenomena, such as noise and fatigue, stemming from vibrations. To do this, reliable structural dynamic models are needed. To be useful the models have to compare well with reality in the validation against test data; if not, the models should be modified. LÄS MER
