16. Laboratory methods for investigation of the immunological orchestra in response to pathogens
Sammanfattning : Laboratory methods used for investigation of immune response often involve collection of whole blood and analysis of different biomarkers in blood components or generated from pathogen stimulation of whole blood or peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMC). Methods used to measure biomarkers are for example enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) which measures one biomarker at a time or multiplex assays for example x-unknown, multi-analyte profiling (xMAP) by Luminex or proximity extension assay (PEA), which can measure up to just over 3000 biomarkers at a time. 17. Mechanisms triggering the recruitment of mast cell progenitors to the lung and regulation of mast cell degranulation
Sammanfattning : Mast cells stem from the bone marrow and migrate via the blood as mast cell progenitors. Upon arrival in peripheral tissues, they develop into mast cells. These rare immune cells have numerous granules that contain large amounts of pro-inflammatory mediators. LÄS MER
18. Risc factors and associated disorders of celiac disease
Sammanfattning : Background: Celiac disease (CD) is an immune-mediated enteropathy induced by dietary gluten. CD is prevalent in some 1 % of the general population. In recent decades there has been a marked increase in CD prevalence that may be influenced by environmental risk factors. LÄS MER
19. Analytical Quality by Design Method Development for Vaccine Characterization
Sammanfattning : Vaccines that are safe, efficacious, and can be rapidly developed are needed to prevent and to react to emerging global infectious disease threats such as influenza, Polio, and Coronavirus diseases. Fast and reliable analytical methods are required without delay to support vaccine process and product development, characterization, and quality control testing. LÄS MER
20. Spatial Analysis and Modeling for Health Applications
Sammanfattning : Despite the benefits of applying methods of geographic information science (GIScience), the use of such methods in health service planning and provision remains greatly underutilized. Spread of epidemic diseases is a constant threat to mankind and the globalization of the world increases the risk for global attacks from multi-resistant bacteria or deadly virus strains. LÄS MER
