  1. 1. Jet Ventilation for Airway Surgery : The Influence of Mode and Frequency on Ventilation Efficacy

    Författare :Robert Sütterlin; Peter Frykholm; Anders Larsson; Ullman Johan; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; jet ventilation; airway obstruction; tracheal stenosis; HFJV; SHFJV; Anestesiologi och intensivvård; Anaesthesiology and Intensive Care;

    Sammanfattning : In surgery for airway obstruction, the anesthetist and the ear-nose-throat surgeon share the approach to the airway and jet ventilation (JV) is a mutually convenient ventilation technique for both parties. As a consequence of the open system jet ventilation is applied in, bedside measurements of lung volumes are cumbersome to perform and thus, there is a lack of studies comparing different modes of JV or investigating the influence of ventilator settings on lung volumes and gas exchange. 2. 2. Oxidation of terpenes in indoor environments : A study of influencing factors

    Författare :Linda Pommer; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Environmental chemistry; Monoterpene; Ozone O3 ; Nitrogen dioxide NO2 ; Nitrogen oxide NO ; Relative humidity RH ; Modelling; Scrubber; Experimental design; Interaction; Volatile organic compounds VOC ; Sick buildings syndrome SBS ; Principal component analysis PCA ; Indoor air; Ventilation; Tenax TA; Sodium sulphite; Miljökemi; Environmental chemistry; Miljökemi; analytisk kemi; Analytical Chemistry;

    Sammanfattning : In this thesis the oxidation of monoterpenes by O3 and NO2 and factors that influenced the oxidation were studied. In the environment both ozone (O3) and nitrogen dioxide (NO2) are present as oxidising gases, which causes sampling artefacts when using Tenax TA as an adsorbent to sample organic compounds in the air. 3. 3. Combustion Products from Fires - Influence from ventilation conditions

    Författare :Berit Andersson; Avdelningen för Brandteknik; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TOXFIRE; combustion products; influence of ventilation; fire experiments;

    Sammanfattning : The production of combustion products is discussed, especially with respect to the influence of ventilation conditions. Results are presented and compared, from different experimental set-ups. Experimental techniques are presented and discussed.. LÄS MER

  4. 4. ON THE EFFICIENCY OF DISPLACEMENT VENTILATION, with Particular Reference to the Influence of Human Physical Activity

    Författare :Magnus Mattsson; Högskolan i Gävle; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Displacement ventilation; Ventilation efficiency; Physical activity; Human activity; Movements; Transient behaviours; Ceiling height; Wall temperature.; Building engineering; Byggnadsteknik; Fluid mechanics; Strömningsmekanik;

    Sammanfattning : The efficiency of room ventilation by the displacement principle was studied with respect to some influential factors, in particular that of physical activity. The study was experimental and performed in two full-scale test rooms, one of office-size and one of classroom-size. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Regulation of Breathing under Different Pulmonary Conditions

    Författare :Esther Rieger-Fackeldey; Gunnar Sedin; Anders Jonzon; Richard Sindelar; Andreas Schulze; Richard Martin; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Pediatrics; Control of breathing; Pulmonary Stretch Receptor; Phrenic Nerve Activity; Respiratory Distress Syndrome; Surfactant; Partial Liquid Ventilation; Assisted Ventilation; Pediatrik; Paediatric medicine; Pediatrisk medicin;

    Sammanfattning : The breathing pattern of preterm infants is immature and is associated with a variety of reflexes. In a patient on the ventilator these reflexes interfere with spontaneous breathing. A better understanding of the immature control of breathing could lead to further improvements in ventilatory techniques. LÄS MER
