11. Mixing and Stagnation in Drinking Water Storage Tanks
Sammanfattning : This thesis contributes to studies of the assessment of mixing conditions in drinking water storage tanks and analyses of parameters governing mixing rates and formation of stagnant zones. The work also contributes to a validation of Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) models of jet-forced mixing in storage tanks under neutral and thermally stratified conditions. LÄS MER
12. Vortex generator modeling and its application to optimal control of airflow in inlet
Sammanfattning : This dissertation deals with the development of the vortex generator model and its use for the optimization study of vortex generator flow control in high-offset-ed inlets. In the first part, the overview of use of vortex generators and their mechanism is outlined. LÄS MER
13. Numerical computations of the unsteady flow in turbochargers
Sammanfattning : Turbocharging the internal combustion (IC) engine is a common technique to increase the power density. If turbocharging is used with the downsizing technique, the fuel consumption and pollution of green house gases can be decreased. LÄS MER
14. Large Eddy Simulation of Turbulent Premixed and Partially Premixed Combustion
Sammanfattning : In this thesis, a computational fluid dynamics (CFD) approach is used to study turbulent premixed and partially premixed combustion. The CFD approach is based on large eddy simulation (LES) in which the large-scale structures of the flow are resolved on a grid, leaving only the small-scale structures (subgrid scales) to be modeled. 15. Numerical modeling of groundwater and air flow between compacted bentonite and fractured crystalline rock
Sammanfattning : The geological repository for final storage of spent nuclear fuel, envisioned by the Swedish Nuclear Fuel and Management Company (SKB), relies on several barriers: copper canisters deposited in holes in the floor of underground tunnels in deep bedrock, embedded in a buffer of compacted bentonite. The initially unsaturated buffer would take up water from the surrounding rock mass and swell to seal any potential gap. LÄS MER
