  1. 1. Learning of probabilistic inference tasks : effects of uncertainty and function form

    Författare :Håkan Alm; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Inference; learning; cognition;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis is concerned with the problem of how people learn to use uncertain information for making judgments. The general framework for the thesis is Social Judgment Theory (SJT). First the S3T paradigm, and some research conducted within the paradigm, is briefly described, and a series of four empirical studies is summarized. LÄS MER

  2. 2. The Role of High-Level Reasoning and Rule-Based Representations in the Inverse Base-Rate Effect

    Författare :Pia Wennerholm; Koen Lamberts; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Psychology; inverse base-rate effect; rationality; human knowledge representations; exemplar-based models of categorization; eliminative inference; inference rules; rapid attention shifts; associations; Psykologi; Psychology; Psykologi; Psychology; psykologi;

    Sammanfattning : The inverse base-rate effect is the observation that on certain occasions people classify new objects as belonging to rare base-rate categories rather than common ones (e.g., D. L. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Efficient Development of Vehicle Configuration Rules

    Författare :Anna Tidstam; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; process modeling.; development process; matrix-based visualization; vehicle configuration; configuration rules; information modelling;

    Sammanfattning : The aim of this PhD thesis is to describe an efficient and user-friendly development process for vehicle configuration rules. The development of vehicle configuration rules precedes the sales configuration, and is the process of authoring, evaluating and releasing configuration rules sets. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Dialogue and Shared Knowledge : How Verbal Interaction Renders Mental States Socially Observable

    Författare :Wendelin Reich; Tom R. Burns; Ruth Wodak; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Sociology; cognitive sociology; microsociology; social theory; social interaction; dialogue; shared knowledge; observability; inference; constraint; expectability; Grice; Sociologi; Sociology; Sociologi;

    Sammanfattning : This dissertation presents a new theoretical solution to the sociological problem of observability: the question of the extent to which and by what means individuals "observe" or infer mental states of other individuals, thereby sharing knowledge with them. The answer offered here states that the social situation of dialogue permits a speaker to use utterances to compel a hearer to generate specific and expectable assumptions about some of the speaker's intentions and beliefs. Sammanfattning : We are surrounded by data in our daily lives. The rent of our houses, the amount of electricity units consumed, the prices of different products at a supermarket, the daily temperature, our medicine prescriptions, our internet search history are all different forms of data. Data can be used in a wide range of applications. LÄS MER
