1. Elastic and Inelastic Electron Tunneling in Molecular Devices
Sammanfattning : A theoretical framework for calculating electron transport through molecular junctions is presented. It is based on scattering theory using a Green's function formalism. The model can take both elastic and inelastic scattering into account and treats chemical and physical bonds on equal footing. LÄS MER
2. First principles simulations of electron transport at the molecule-solid interface
Sammanfattning : In this thesis I concentrate on the description of electron transport properties of microscopic objects, including molecular junctions and nano junctions, in particular, inelastic electron tunneling in surface-adsorbate systems are examined with more contemplations. Boosted by the rapid advance in experimental techniques at the microscopic scale, various electric experiments and measurements sprung up in the last decade. LÄS MER
3. Electron Transport in Nanowire Quantum Devices
Sammanfattning : This thesis focuses on electron transport in semiconductor InAs/InP and InSb nanowire quantum devices. However, first the temperature dependence of classical charge transport in InSb nanowire field-effect transistors, FETs, is characterized, using InAs nanowire FETs as a reference. LÄS MER
4. Elastic and inelastic scattering effects in conductance measurements at the nanoscale : A theoretical treatise
Sammanfattning : Elastic and inelastic interactions are studied in tunnel junctions of a superconducting nanoelectromechanical setup and in response to resent experimental superconducting scanning tunneling microscope findings on a paramagnetic molecule. In addition, the electron density of molecular graphene is modeled by a scattering theory approach in very good agreement with experiment. LÄS MER
5. Electron Transport and Optical Properties in Mesoscopic Systems
Sammanfattning : The main subject of this Thesis is optical properties of quantum point contact systems and their influence on the electron transport. A quantum point contact is a narrow constriction in a two-dimensional electron gas, where the width of the constriction can be controlled by means of a gate voltage. LÄS MER
