  1. 1. Determination and control of some pollutants in indoor environments

    Författare :Pawel Markowicz; Avdelningen för medicinsk mikrobiologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; indoor air quality; indoor pollutants; dampness; purification; tobacco smoke;

    Sammanfattning : Unsatisfactory indoor air quality (IAQ) may result from polluting emissions that are spread from building materials such as volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and/or microbial components or from various kinds of human activity such as smoking. Different methods are available to limit the exposure to unwanted pollutants and improve human wellbeing and health. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Modelling as a Tool to Evaluate Continuously Measured Concentration Value of Gaseous Indoor Air Pollutants

    Författare :Martin Kraenzmer; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NO2; modeling; TVOC; modelling; indoor air; pollutants; continuous monitoring; NOx; VOC; NO; O3; continuous measurement; CO; CO2;

    Sammanfattning : Results from studies of air quality in buildings are often difficult to interpret and evaluate and, in order to avoid erroneous conclusions, special evaluating tools may be needed. Modelling in various forms can be used as a method of evaluating measured values from such investigations. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Legacy persistent organic pollutants and chemicals of emerging concern in Sweden : from indoor environments to remote areas

    Författare :Seth Newton; Cynthia de Wit; Ulla Sellström; Per Larsson; Annika Jahnke; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; persistent organic pollutants; atmospheric deposition; arctic; flame retardant; POP; long range transport; miljökemi; Environmental Chemistry;

    Sammanfattning : Bulk atmospheric deposition samples were taken every two months for a year in 2009-2010 at two sites in northern Sweden and analyzed for a suite of legacy and emerging persistent organic chemicals including legacy organochlorine pesticides (OCPs), polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs), polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDEs)  and novel flame retardants (NFRs).  To further investigate the urban occurrence and contribution to remote contamination of flame retardants, indoor air, ventilation system air, and dust were sampled in several microenvironments in Stockholm during the winter of 2012 for analysis of PBDEs, isomer-specific hexabromocyclododecane (HBCDD), and NFRs. 4. 4. Brominated flame retardants and perfluoroalkyl acids in Swedish indoor microenvironments : Implications for human exposure

    Författare :Justina Björklund; Cynthia de Wit; Thomas Webster; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; PBDEs; HBCD; PFOS; PFOA; indoor air; indoor dust; breast milk; human exposure; emission; Applied Environmental Science; tillämpad miljövetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : Humans are exposed to persistent organic pollutants (POPs) such as brominated flame retardants (BFRs, specifically polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDEs) and hexabromocyclododecane (HBCD)) and perfluoroalkyl acids (PFAAs, specifically perfluoroalkane sulfonate (PFOS) and perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA)). They are used in consumer products found in cars, offices, homes and day care centers. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Indoor and Outdoor Air Pollution in Relation to Allergy and Asthma in Taiyuan, China

    Författare :Zhuohui Zhao; Dan Norbäck; Jan Sundell; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Medical sciences; Indoor air; China; School; Allergen; Dust; Microbial exposure; SO2; Air pollutants; Epidemiology; MEDICIN OCH VÅRD;

    Sammanfattning : The aim was to study the prevalence of asthma, eczema, allergy and respiratory symptoms among pupils in Shanxi province, China, in relation to home and school environment and outdoor air pollution. In one study there was a low prevalence of self-reported asthma, eczema and pollen or pet allergy among pupils (9-20y). LÄS MER
