  1. 21. Microorganisms in the Indoor Environment Analysis and Structure-Bioactivity Relationships

    Författare :Anita Saraf; Avdelningen för medicinsk mikrobiologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Limulus assay; bioactivity; ergosterol; muramic acid; LPS; organic dust; GC-MS; GC-MSMS; Microbiology; bacteriology; virology; mycology; Mikrobiologi; bakteriologi; virologi; mykologi;

    Sammanfattning : Inhalation of air-borne microorganisms and components thereof can cause illnesses and diseases. However, lack of specific and sensitive methods for exposure assessment can pose problems in predicting health outcomes. LÄS MER

  2. 22. Characterisation of the Microbial Community in Indoor Environments: a Chemical-Analytical Approach

    Författare :Aleksandra Sebastian; Avdelningen för medicinsk mikrobiologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; indoor air; microbial chemical markers; asthma; allergies; tobacco smoke; Infektioner; Infections;

    Sammanfattning : Inhalation of airborne microorganisms and their toxic components and products may induce a wide spectrum of acute and chronic airway manifestations. The study describes important capabilities of chemical marker analysis in defining human exposure to microorganisms in indoor environments. LÄS MER

  3. 23. Phthalates: A Full Chain Story : Connecting phthalate sources, indoor dust, human intake, and airway symptoms in children

    Författare :Anna-Sofia Preece; Carl-Gustav Bornehag; Malin Knutz; Huan Shu; Bruce Lanphear; Karlstads universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; children s health; endocrine disruption; exposure pathways; full chain model; human exposure; plasticizers; pregnancy; PVC; respiratory; SELMA study; Public Health Science; Folkhälsovetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : Phthalates are widely used in a large number of consumer goods and building materials from which they can leach and contaminate the environment such as indoor dust and air. It is unclear how phthalate sources in our homes and indoor dust contribute to human intake and airway symptoms in children. LÄS MER

  4. 24. Legacy persistent organic pollutants and chemicals of emerging concern in Sweden : from indoor environments to remote areas

    Författare :Seth Newton; Cynthia de Wit; Ulla Sellström; Per Larsson; Annika Jahnke; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; persistent organic pollutants; atmospheric deposition; arctic; flame retardant; POP; long range transport; miljökemi; Environmental Chemistry;

    Sammanfattning : Bulk atmospheric deposition samples were taken every two months for a year in 2009-2010 at two sites in northern Sweden and analyzed for a suite of legacy and emerging persistent organic chemicals including legacy organochlorine pesticides (OCPs), polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs), polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDEs)  and novel flame retardants (NFRs).  To further investigate the urban occurrence and contribution to remote contamination of flame retardants, indoor air, ventilation system air, and dust were sampled in several microenvironments in Stockholm during the winter of 2012 for analysis of PBDEs, isomer-specific hexabromocyclododecane (HBCDD), and NFRs. 5. 25. Indoor environment and recurrent wheezing in young children

    Författare :Gunnel Emenius; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Child; asthma; allergy; wheezing; air pollution; NO2; indoor air quality; building construction; ventilation system; indoor humidity; house dust mites; damp buildings; moisture; moulds; prospective studies; child;

    Sammanfattning : Recurrent wheezing is one of the most common causes of morbidity and hospitalisation among infants and young children in many westernised countries. Respiratory infections and exposure to tobacco smoke have been identified as important risk factors. The indoor environment is also clearly of importance since we spend most of our time indoors.
