1. Real-Time GPU Algorithms: Parallel Primitives and Rendering of Participating Media
Sammanfattning : Modern graphics processing units, GPUs, present an immense resource of computational power, that however remains challenging to fully harness. This thesis explores four algorithms and methods that attempt to take full advantage of the resources provided by a GPU. LÄS MER
2. Fluorescence as a biological feedback signal for energy optimising spectra for greenhouse LED-illumination
Sammanfattning : The introduction of LED-lighting for greenhouses has enabled new ways of controlling the light, both spectrum and intensity, to save energy and increase crop production. We have investigated a new method of automatically tuning the spectrum based on biological feedback. LÄS MER
3. Real-Time GPU Techniques for Advanced Lighting Phenomena
Sammanfattning : In the real world, the visual perception of an object is completely determined by the object's interactions with light. One large application of computer graphics is to visualize virtual objects and worlds in a fashion that is familiar to humans. Successfully emulating light and its effects on virtual objects therefore plays a central role. LÄS MER
4. Spectroscopy of semiconductor quantum dots
Sammanfattning : Quantum dots in the Si/Ge and InAs/GaAs materials systems are examined by means of photoluminescence. The spectroscopic study of Si/Ge quantum dots has demonstrated two different radiative recombination channels in the type II band alignment: The spatially direct transition inside the dot and the spatially indirect transition across the dot interface. 5. Biomass Retrieval in Topographic Boreal Forest using Polarimetric and Tomographic SAR in P- and L-band
Sammanfattning : Forests and their associated habitats are an integral part of Earth's biosphere and provide essential environmental services. There is an ever present need for accurate and economic monitoring of forest parameters such as biomass - of great interest both locally, for forest management and resource utilization, and globally as it represents stored atmospheric CO2 and one of the largest uncertainties in climate modelling.
