  1. 21. Bonding Ability Distribution of Fibers in Mechanical Pulp Furnishes

    Författare :Sofia Reyier; Per Engstrand; Hans Höglund; Olof Ferritsius; Hans Ersson; Rita Ferritsius; Philip Reme; Mittuniversitetet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Fiber; mechanical pulp; bonding ability; fiber characterization; Bonding Indicator; BIN; acoustic emission; hydrocyclone; Fiberlab; collapse resistance; fibrillation; Fiber; mekanisk massa; bindningsförmåga; fiber karakterisering; Bindnings Indikator; BIN; akustisk emission; hydrocyklon; Fiberlab; kollaps resistans; fibrillering; Cellulose and paper engineering; Cellulosa- och pappersteknik;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis presents a method of measuring the distribution of fiber bonding ability in mechanical pulp furnishes. The method is intended for industrial use, where today only average values are used to describe fiber bonding ability, despite the differences in morphology of the fibers entering the mill. LÄS MER

  2. 22. Assessment of stormwater and snowmelt quality based on water management priorities and the consequent water quality parameters

    Författare :Helen Galfi; Maria Viklander; Jiri Marsalek; Helene Österlund; Jon M. Hathaway; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Stormwater quality; indicator bacteria; water quality assessment; VA-teknik; Urban Water Engineering; Centre - Centre for Stormwater Management DRIZZLE ; Centrumbildning - Centrum för dagvattenhantering DRIZZLE ;

    Sammanfattning : Stormwater and snowmelt pollution contributes to degradation of quality of the receiving waters. For assessing such impacts, it is effective to focus on specific causes of degradation, as done in this study of the quality of stormwater and snowmelt discharges into the receiving waters serving for supply of raw drinking water and water-based recreation. 3. 23. Evaluation of microbial health risks associated with the reuse of source-separated humna urine

    Författare :Caroline Höglund; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :urine-separation; urine; wastewater systems; wastewater reuse; recycling; enteric pathogens; faecal sterols; indicator bacteria; hygiene risks; microbial persistence; microbial risk assessment; QMRA; fertiliser; crop;

    Sammanfattning : Human excreta contain plant nutrients and have the potentialto be used as a fertiliser in agriculture. Urine contributesthe major proportion of the nutrients (N, P and K) in domesticwastewater whereas faeces contribute a smaller amount andinvolves greater health risks if reused due to the possiblepresence of enteric pathogens. 4. 24. Volatile metabolites from microorganisms in indoor environments : sampling, analysis and identification

    Författare :Anna-Lena Sunesson; Alvin Fox; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Adsorbents; Analysis; Cultivation; Determination; Gas chromatography; Identification; Indicator substances; Indoor air; Mass spectrometry; Metabolites; Microbial volatile organic compounds; Optimization; Sampling; Sick buildings; Thermal desorption; Aspergillus versicolor; Cladosporium cladosporioides; Paecilomyces variotii; Pénicillium commune; Phialophora fastigiata; Streptomyces albidoflavus;

    Sammanfattning : Microorganisms are able to produce a wide variety of volatile organic compounds. This thesis deals with sampling, analysis and identification of such compounds, produced by microorganisms commonly found in buildings. LÄS MER

  5. 25. Hygiene Aspects of Greywater and Greywater Reuse

    Författare :Jakob Ottosson; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :greywater; greywater reuse; greywater treatment; microbial risk assessment; groundwater recharge; irrigation; recreational water; faecal contamination; indicator bacteria; index organisms; faecal sterols; bacteriophages; enteric pathogens; rotavirus; ;

    Sammanfattning : Greywater is domestic household wastewater without inputfrom the toilet, i.e. wastewater from sinks, the shower,washing machine and dishwasher in a home. Source separation ofgreywater can be a strategy to enhance recirculation of plantnutrients and/or improve water use. LÄS MER
