21. Structural and functional analyses of infectious pancreatic necrosis virus (IPNV)
Sammanfattning : Infectious pancreatic necrosis virus (IPNV) is a naked virus of an uncomplicated structure. In the interior part of the virion, the two segments of double-stranded RNA are located together with the minor structural protein VP1. This protein is detected in its free form as well as linked to the genome. LÄS MER
22. Effect of experimental complex III deficiency on respiratory chain assembly and function
Sammanfattning : The assembly of respiratory chain complexes in the mitochondrial inner membrane requires specific factors. Once assembled to form a mature functional complex, complex III (CIII) is a dimer consisting of two monomers, each with eleven subunits. LÄS MER
23. Fast Dynamic Processes in Solution Studied by NMR Spectroscopy
Sammanfattning : Nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy is capable to deliver a detailed information about the dynamics on molecular level in a wide range of time scales, especially if accompanied by suitably chosen theoretical tools. In this work, we employed a set of high-resolution NMR techniques to investigate dynamics processes in several weakly interacting molecular systems in solution. LÄS MER
24. Mimicking the action of ribonucleases : studies on RNase A and design of PNA based artificial enzymes
Sammanfattning : A 3’-deoxy-3’-C-methylenephosphonate modified diribonucleotide is highly resistant to degradation by spleen phosphodiesterase and not cleaved at all by snake venom phosphodiesterase. Despite that both the vicinal 2-hydroxy nucleophile and the 5’-oxyanion leaving group are intact, the 3’-methylenephosponate RNA modification is also highly resistant towards the action of RNase A. 25. Decoding the Structural Layer of Transcriptional Regulation : Computational Analyses of Chromatin and Chromosomal Aberrations
Sammanfattning : Gene activity is regulated at two separate layers. Through structural and chemical properties of DNA – the primary layer of encoding – local signatures may enable, or disable, the binding of proteins or complexes of them with regulatory potential to the DNA. LÄS MER
