16. Method development for the analysis of protein interactions
Sammanfattning : Biological processes take place through interactions between macromolecules, such as nucleic acids and proteins. It is, therefore, fundamental to understand the functions of proteins and how they form complexes in order to carry out their role. LÄS MER
17. Telomere analysis of normal and neoplastic hematopoietic cells : studies focusing on fluorescence in situ hybridization and flow cytometry
Sammanfattning : The telomeres are specialized structures at the end of the chromosomes composed of the repeated DNA sequence (TTAGGG)n and specific proteins bound to the DNA. The telomeres protect the chromosomes from degradation and end to end fusions. LÄS MER
18. Fundamental in-situ and ex-situ studies of energy storage related materials including different applications of voltammetry
Sammanfattning : This thesis is a summary and discussion of eight papers dealing with failures and structural aspects of Ni-Cd industrial pocket plate batteries, applications of voltammetry in adsorption studies on goethite (a-FeOOH) surfaces and synthesis and characterisation of nanostructured carbons. The work consists of different areas of chemistry; electrochemistry, structural chemistry and solution chemistry. LÄS MER
19. In situ X-Ray Spectroscopy of Ethylene Epoxidation over Ag and studies of Li-ion batteries and Cu sulfidation
Sammanfattning : This thesis is based on experiments applying synchrotron based X-ray Absorption Spectroscopy(XAS) and Resonant Inelastic X-ray Scattering (RIXS) in the soft X-ray region to energy related systems. The main work of this thesis has been to develop a reaction cell that allowed for in situ XAS and RIXS investigations of the partial epoxidation of ethylene over a Ag catalyst at 1 atm and up to 250C. 20. Neurohormonal Modulators in the Parathyroid Gland. Localization and regulation
Sammanfattning : The occurrence and distribution of neurohormonal peptides, neuroendocrine markers and receptors in parathyroid nerve fibers and endocrine cells are described, using immunocytochemistry, in situ hybridization, image analysis and reverse transcriptase polymerase chain reaction. Immunocytochemical studies revealed that parathyroid glands of chicken, rat, guinea-pig, cat, dog and sheep contained adrenergic-, cholinergic-, and peptide-containing nerve fibers. LÄS MER
