  1. 16. Nanoscale Characterisation of Barriers to Electron Conduction in ZnO Varistor Materials

    Författare :Mattias Elfwing; Peter Lagerlöf; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Materials science; ZnO varistor material; TEM; SEM; EBIC; ESEM; electron holography; Materialvetenskap; Materials science; Teknisk materialvetenskap; Solid State Physics; fasta tillståndets fysik;

    Sammanfattning : The work presented in this thesis is concerned with the microstructure of zinc oxide varistor materials used in surge protecting devices. This class of material has been characterised with special emphasis on the functional microstructure and the development of the microstructure during sintering. LÄS MER

  2. 17. Atmospheric corrosion of zinc-aluminum and copper-based alloys in chloride-rich environments : Microstructure, corrosion initiation, patina evolution and metal release

    Författare :Xian Zhang; Inger Odnevall Wallinder; Christofer Leygraf; Manuel Morcillo; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :atmospheric corrosion; chloride deposition; Zn-Al alloy coatings on steel microstructure; Cu sheet and Cu alloys; microstructure; corrosion initiation; corrosion product evolution; metal release; SEM; IRAS; CRM.; Kemi; Chemistry;

    Sammanfattning : Fundamental understanding of atmospheric corrosion mechanisms requires an in-depth understanding on the dynamic interaction between corrosive constituents and metal/alloy surfaces. This doctoral study comprises field and laboratory investigations that assess atmospheric corrosion and metal release processes for two different groups of alloys exposed in chloride-rich environments. 3. 18. Nanocomposite films for corrosion protection

    Författare :Majid Sababi; Jinshan Pan; J.M.C. (Arjan) Mol; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; corrosion protection; nanocomposite; coating; tool alloy; layer‐by‐layer; polarization; passivity; nanomechanical; topography; Mefp‐ 1; ceria nanoparticle; PAni; UV‐cure; AFM; Peak Force QNM; EIS; SEM; CRM; QCM‐D; ATR‐FTIR;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis describes technical and scientific aspects of new types of composite films/coatings for corrosion protection of carbon steel, composite films with nanometer thickness consisting of mussel adhesive protein (Mefp‐1) and ceria nanoparticles, and polymeric composite coatings with micrometre thickness consisting of conducting polymer and ceria nanoparticles in a UV‐curing polyester acrylate (PEA) resin.The influence of microstructure on corrosion behaviour was studied for a Fe‐Cr‐V‐N alloy containing micro‐sized nitrides with different chemical composition spread in martensitic alloy matrix. 4. 19. Early Hydration of Portland Cement

    Författare :Rikard Ylmén; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; SEM; freeze-drying; cement; calorimetry; nano-silica; carbonation; hydration; FTIR; infrared spectroscopy;

    Sammanfattning : The production of cement is responsible forapproximately 7 % of the total CO2 emissions caused by man. To compensate for high energyconsumption and CO2 emission, thus making the utilization of concrete more sustainable,several strategies can be used. LÄS MER

  5. 20. Influence of carbides and nitrides on corrosion initiation of advanced alloys : A local probing study

    Författare :Eleonora Bettini; Jinshan Pan; Thomas Ladwein; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; carbides; nitrides; microstructure; CoCrMo alloys; duplex stainless steels; localized corrosion; transpassive dissoluti on; elemental depletion; AFM; TEM; SEM.;

    Sammanfattning : Advanced alloys often present precipitated carbides and nitrides in their microstructure following exposure to elevated temperatures. These secondary phases are usually undesirable, because potentially deleterious for the corrosion and mechanical performances of the material. LÄS MER
