1. Hematopoietic stem and progenitor cells and potentials for application in fetal cell replacement therapy
Sammanfattning : Fetal cell replacement therapy or in utero hematopoietic cell transplantation (IUHCT) is proposed as a non-myeloablative alternative to bone marrow transplantation (BMT) for a number of inborn immunologic, hematologic and metabolic disorders. IUHCT represents the method through which variable amounts of natural or genetically modified hematopoietic cells can be transferred to the fetal recipient in hope of correcting the disorder and preventing postnatal permanent organ damage. 2. Molecular and Functional Dynamics of Hematopoietic Progenitor Cell Fate During Ontogeny
Sammanfattning : Hematopoietic stem and progenitor cells (HSPCs) in the fetus and the adult possess distinct molecular signatures that regulate cell fate and change their susceptibility to initiation and progression of hematological malignancies, such as leukemia. It is well established that fetal and adult hematopoiesis are functionally distinct processes; however, the underlying molecular mechanisms that govern ontogenic differences in normal and malignant hematopoiesis have thus far been poorly explored on the proteomic level. 3. Experimental studies of human fetal liver cells : in regard to in utero hematopoietic stem cell transplantation
Sammanfattning : Successful in utero hematopoietic stem cell transplantation represents a potential step forward in the management of patients with severe inherited hematological, metabolic and immunological disorders. Animal data from a number of species have demonstrated evidence of engraftment, but to date the only effective in utero transplantations (IUTx) in humans have been performed in fetuses with severe immunodeficiencies, suggesting that the fetal immune system play a vital role in the success or failure of in utero transplantation. 4. Molecular and cellular analysis of Lhx2 function in hematopoietic stem cells
Sammanfattning : The formation of blood, hematopoiesis, is a dynamic process originating from a small number of hematopoietic stem cells (HSCs). To sustain hematopoiesis throughout life HSCs have the unique capacity to differentiate into all mature hematopoietic lineages as well as generating more HSCs by a mechanism referred to as self-renewal. 5. Fetal hematopoietic cells in early gestation : aspects in view of fetal transplantation
Sammanfattning : The fetus as a patient is a challenge. There are opportunities for early, sometimes life-saving procedures or there may be advantages in prenatal rather than postnatal intervention. This is the case in fetal hematopoietic cell (FHC) transplantation where conditions caused by a defect in blood cell formation may be life-threatening to the fetus. LÄS MER
