    Författare :Haochen Duan; Abigail Barker; Jaroslaw Majka; Stefan Wastegård; Kate Saunders; Susanne M. Straub; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Oceanic arc; Izu rear-arc; Melt inlcusions; Oxygen isotopes; Boron isotopes; Continental crust; Mantle hererogeneity; In-situ microanalysis; IMS-1280; Geovetenskap med inriktning mot mineralogi; petrologi och tektonik; Earth Science with specialization in Mineral Chemistry; Petrology and Tectonics;

    Sammanfattning : The Izu oceanic arc is produced by the subduction of the Pacific Sea Plate beneath the Philippine Sea Plate. The proto-Izu oceanic arc was initially formed at ca. 50 Ma, then it was separated into the Kyushu-Palau and Izu arc by the extension of the Shikoku basin from ca. 25 Ma. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Silicon Carbide Reinforced Alumina and Mullite Ceramics

    Författare :Stefan Gustafsson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Ceramic Nanocomposites; Creep; SEM; SiC; Grain Boundaries; Microanalysis; Mullite; Pressureless Sintering; TEM; Alumina;

    Sammanfattning : The aim of this work was to develop homogeneous ceramic nanocomposite materials with good thermal and structural stability as well as good mechanical properties. The development of microstructure was related to the material properties. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Ion transport in exocrine glands with reference to cystic fibrosis

    Författare :Ailing Zhang; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Cell biology; ion transport; cystic fibrosis; submandibular gland; airway submucosal gland; X-ray microanalysis; cytosolic Ca2 concentration; immunocytochemistry; Cellbiologi; Cell biology; Cellbiologi; Human Anatomy; anatomi;

    Sammanfattning : Aspects of ion transport in rat submandibular gland acinar cells at the subcellular level, and the regulation of chloride secretion and calcium mobilization in cultured pig tracheal gland acinar cells were studied with reference to the disease cystic fibrosis.In adult rat submandibular gland acinar cells, both cholinergic and α-adrenergic stimulation induced efflux of K+ and of C1-, but the response was generally less with α-adrenergic stimulation. 4. 4. Microstructure and Inclusion Characteristics in Steels with Ti-oxide and TiN Additions

    Författare :Wangzhong Mu; Pär Jönsson; Keiji Nakajima; Casper Van der Eijk; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; intragranular ferrite; oxide metallurgy; inclusion engineering; titanium nitride; titanium oxide; inclusion size; heterogeneous nucleation; critical diameter; confocal laser scanning microscopy CLSM ; differential scanning calorimetry DSC ; continuous cooling transformation CCT diagram.; Materials Science and Engineering; Teknisk materialvetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : Non-metallic inclusions in steels are generally considered to be detrimental for mechanical properties. However, it has been recognized that certain inclusions, such as Ti-oxide and TiN, can serve as potent nucleation sites for the formation of intragranular ferrite (IGF) in low-alloy steels. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Studies of the Elemental Composition of Airway Surface Liquid with Relevance to Cystic Fibrosis

    Författare :Viengphet Vanthanouvong; Godfried M. Roomans; Isabelle Sermet-Gaudelus; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Anatomy; airway surface liquid; cystic fibrosis; Na; K; Cl; X-ray microanalysis; Anatomi;

    Sammanfattning : Cystic fibrosis (CF) is an inherited disease with symptoms mainly in the respiratory tract. The airway epithelium is covered with a thin layer of fluid, the airway surface liquid (ASL). The volume and composition of ASL are important in the pathogenesis of cystic fibrosis. The composition of ASL was determined. LÄS MER
