  1. 1. Conservation Genetics of the Eurasian Otter in Sweden

    Författare :Johanna Arrendal; Mats Björklund; Carles Vilà; Ralph Tiedemann; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Ecology; in situ conservation; individual identification; microsatellites; mtDNA; noninvasive genetic sampling; population dynamics; population size; PVA; restocking; Ekologi; Lutra lutra;

    Sammanfattning : In this thesis, molecular genetic methods were used to study a threatened species, the Eurasian otter. Estimates of population size and population dynamics parameters were obtained, the genetic effects of a restocking program was evaluated, and a population viability analysis was conducted to assess which demographic parameters are most important for the future viability of an otter population. 2. 2. Non-Invasive Monitoring of Architectural Heritage

    Författare :Jenny Hällström; Bebyggelsevård; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; remote sensing; lidar; laser-induced fluorescence; documentation; hyperspectral; non invasive; non destructive; sustainable maintenance; conservation planning; monitoring; Coliseum; architectural conservation; restoration; Övedskloster; deterioration; Lateran Baptistery; stone; brick; thematic mapping; in situ; imaging; biodeteriogens;

    Sammanfattning : The on-site documentation and examination of architectural heritage has presented challenges for traditional analysis methods in the form of, among other things, large complex structures, sites and environmental conditions. In recent years there has been growing interest in assessing progressing deterioration processes and material analysis, with an emphasis on sustainable conservation and maintenance planning. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Conservation, personality and ecology of the European mink (Mustela lutreola)

    Författare :Marianne Haage; Bodil Elmhagen; Anders Angerbjörn; Kaarina Kauhala; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; European mink; Mustela lutreola; Conservation; Personality; Individual specialism; Diet; American mink; Neovison vison; Intraguild competition; zoologisk ekologi; Animal Ecology;

    Sammanfattning : Loss of biodiversity is a growing problem and hence conservation of species is becoming increasingly important. In this dissertation conservation issues related to the critically endangered European mink (Mustela lutreola) are examined in situ (in the wild) and ex situ (in captivity) on both an individual and community level. 4. 4. Application of the Fluoresecence Lidar Techniques in the Architectural Heritage

    Författare :Jenny Hällström; Bebyggelsevård; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; architectural heritage; stone; brick; conservation; restoration; case studies; building investigation; lidar; fluorescence; laser; masonry;

    Sammanfattning : The primary aim of the research project is to analyse the potential for the application of lidar and fluorescence techniques in building investigation, and also to establish a scientific remote-sensing method for surveying and analysing the historical facade that is non-destructive and can be used in-situ. The fluorescence lidar method uses point-monitoring and scanning of areas that can provide multispectral images in order to identify materials, biodeteriogens and other substances not visible to the human eye. 5. 5. Behavioural differences and genetic relationships between four captive populations of red junglefowl (Gallus gallus) : possible implications for conservation

    Författare :Jennie Håkansson; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Red junglefowl; behavioural differences; genetic relationships; captive populations; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP;

    Sammanfattning : Conservation of species is to a large extent carried out by zoos where animals are kept in small populations under protected conditions. The ultimate goal of such ex situ conservation programs is to eventually reintroduce the animals into natural habitats to provide support for the survival of the species. LÄS MER
