1. Detailed Soot Modelling in Laminar and Turbulent Reacting Flows
Sammanfattning : In the present work a detailed kinetic soot model is applied to study the formation and oxidation of soot particles in laminar premixed and turbulent non-premixed flames. The soot model used in this study is based on a detailed description of the chemical and physical processes involved in the formation of soot. LÄS MER
2. Infrared Laser-Induced Grating Techniques for Diagnostics in Reactive Flows
Sammanfattning : AbstractThe work presented in this thesis is mainly focused on the development andapplication of infrared laser-induced grating techniques in order to measure the gasphase temperature and species concentrations in reactive flows. The two techniquesused for this purpose are laser-induced grating spectroscopy (LIGS) and degeneratefour-wave mixing (DFWM). LÄS MER
3. Dynamics of curved flames in compressible flows
Sammanfattning : Influence of flow compressibility on propagation and stability of premixed laminar flames in gaseous combustible mixtures has been investigated. A linear analysis of the intrinsic hydrodynamical instability of a planar flame front has shown that the instability growth rate is very sensitive to the compressibility effects and can increase significantly even for rather small Mach numbers of the flame generated flow. 4. Flamelet modelling of soot formation in diffusion flames
Sammanfattning : In this work the steady and unsteady flamelet models have been applied to soot formation in laminar and turbulent diffusion flames. The aim was to study how different model parameters affect soot formation in diffusion flames. It was shown that certain assumptions are more crucial in laminar diffusion flames than in turbulent ones. LÄS MER
5. Application of Laser Techniques for Combustion Studies
Sammanfattning : The aim for this work has been to increase the applicability of laser spectroscopy techniques for studies of combustion processes, both what regards in-flame experiments, exhaust-gas analysis and remote sensing of the atmosphere. Raman spectroscopy has been used for analysis of exhaust gases from flames, model fires of wood and for inflame measurements. LÄS MER
