  1. 1. Exercise-based cardiac rehabilitation, physical fitness, and physical activity in cardiac disease

    Författare :Maria Borland; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; exercise-based cardiac rehabilitation; exercise; physical fitness; physical activity; health-related quality of life; atrial fibrillation; heart failure;

    Sammanfattning : Background: Evidence suggests that individualised exercise-based cardiac rehabilitation should be offered to patients with ischemic heart disease and chronic heart failure (HF) because it improves physical fitness and health-related quality of life (HR-QoL), and reduces cardiac mortality and hospital admissions. If physiotherapist-led exercise-based cardiac rehabilitation (PT-X) can similarly improve physical fitness in patients with atrial fibrillation (AF), and improve physical activity levels in patients with chronic HF or permanent AF, has been sparsely studied. 2. 2. The plantaris tendon in relation to the Achilles tendon in midportion Achilles tendinopathy : studies on morphology, innervation and signalling substances

    Författare :Christoph Spang; Sture Forsgren; Håkan Alfredson; Patrik Danielson; Karim Khan; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Plantaris tendon; Achilles tendon; Achilles tendinopathy; innervation; morphology;

    Sammanfattning : Midportion Achilles tendinopathy (tendinosis) is a troublesome painful condition, often characterised by pain, local swelling, tenderness and functional disability. Despite extensive research, the pathogenesis is poorly understood and treatment remains challenging. Features related to the peritendinous connective tissue can be of importance. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Metal homeostasis as critical determinant for cellular fitness

    Författare :Jutta Diessl; Sabrina Büttner; Rajini Rao; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; metal homeostasis; manganese toxicity; coenzyme Q synthesis; mitochondrial respiration; calcineurin signaling; Pmr1; SPCA1; calcium; survival; caloric restriction; Parkinson’s disease models; proteotoxicity; Pep4; cathepsin D; molekylär biovetenskap; Molecular Bioscience;

    Sammanfattning : Metals play a crucial role in cellular biology. Bulk and trace metals such as calcium and manganese regulate a plethora of cellular processes ranging from signaling and oxidative stress to proteostasis and energy metabolism. LÄS MER

  4. 4. A 3-year lifestyle intervention in primary health care : effects on physical activity, cardiovascular risk factors, quality of life and cost-effectiveness

    Författare :Kerstin Margareta Eriksson; Mats Eliasson; Eva-Britt Malmgren-Olsson; Mai-Lis Hellenius; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; lifestyle intervention; primary health care; physical activity; cardiovascular risk factors; quality of life; cost-effectivenesss; Physiotherapy; Sjukgymnastik fysioterapi; sjukgymnastik; Physiotherapy;

    Sammanfattning : Background: A sedentary lifestyle diminishes quality of life (QOL) and contributes to increasing prevalence of obesity, diabetes and cardiovascular diseases (CVD), and thus increases the economic burden on health care and society. Expensive and tightly controlled lifestyle interventions reduce cardiovascular risk and onset of diabetes. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Modelling the Evolution of Species’ Ranges

    Författare :Martin Eriksson; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Range expansions; Range margins; Population genetics; Evolutionary biology; Local adaptation; Environmental selection; Phenotypic plasticity; Computer simulations;

    Sammanfattning : The fact that species have limited ranges is often due to a limited ability to adapt to the environmental conditions that occur outside their geographic ranges. However, due to ongoing climate change, the environmental conditions within species’ geographic ranges may change in the near-future. LÄS MER
