16. Sorting and Import of Plant Mitochondrial Precursor Proteins
Sammanfattning : The mitochondrial genome encodes only a handful of the mitochondrial proteins; hundreds of mitochondrial proteins are encoded in the nucleus, synthesised on cytosolic polyribosomes and subsequently imported into the organelle. Most of the proteins targeted to the mitochondria are synthesised as precursors with an N-terminal extension called presequence or targeting sequence. LÄS MER
17. Empirical Studies on Firm and Labor Market Dynamics
Sammanfattning : This thesis consists of three self-contained papers. The first paper, Sorting on Unobserved Skills into New Firms, adds to the literature on worker characteristics and post-entry firm performance by putting the unobserved quality of workers in the center of analysis. LÄS MER
18. Firms, International Competition, and the Labor Market
Sammanfattning : Essay 1: We propose a model of cross-border acquisitions in which multinational enterprises (MNEs) and private equity-firms (PE) compete over domestic assets. MNEs' advantage lies in firm-specific synergies, whereas PE-firms are good at restructuring. LÄS MER
19. PresequenceProtease (PreP), a novel Peptidasome in Mitochondria and Chloroplasts : Localization, Function, Structure and Mechanism of Proteolysis
Sammanfattning : The information for mitochondrial and chloroplastic protein import and targeting generally resides in the N-terminal part of the protein, called a targeting peptide. The targeting peptide is cleaved off by the organellar processing peptidases after import of a precursor protein. LÄS MER
20. Impact of international competition on Swedish manufacturing : individual and firm-level evidence from the 1990s
Sammanfattning : This thesis consists of four papers examining the impact of international competition on Swedish manufacturing and labor market during the 1990s. By using detailed individual and firm-level information I aim to investigate how increased exposure to international trade, in terms of both export orientation and import penetration, affects technology development, profitability and wage structure.
