11. Assessment of shear and energy‐absorption capacity of reinforced concrete elements under impulsive loads
Sammanfattning : Impulsive loads have been observed to cause brittle shear failure in reinforced concrete elements designed for ductile failure modes under static loads. Brittle failure modes exhibit poorer energy absorption capabilities compared to ductile flexural failure modes due to their limited deformation capacity, leading to premature failure. LÄS MER
12. Identification of Viscoelastic Materials by Use of Wave Propagation Methods
Sammanfattning : Complex moduli and Poisson’s ratio have been estimated using extensional and torsional wave experiments. The data were used for assessment of linearity and isotropy of two polymers, polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) and polypropylene (PP). The responses of both materials were found to be close to linear and isotropic. LÄS MER
13. Wood and fibre mechanics related to the thermomechanical pulping process
Sammanfattning : The main objective of this thesis was to improve the understanding of some aspects on wood and fibre mechanics related to conditions in the thermomechanical pulping process. Another objective was to measure the power distribution between the rotating plates in a refiner. LÄS MER
14. Evaluation of Shoulder-Complex Motion in Frontal and Oblique Impact Loadings - A Comparison between Frontal Impact Dummies and the Human Body
Sammanfattning : Offset and angled frontal impacts represent a crash type that is more common than full-frontal collisions. Several studies have shown that over 70% of all frontal impacts are offset or oblique. LÄS MER
15. On the impact of temperature perturbations on the creep of sensitive clay
Sammanfattning : Temperature affects the soil response, but is not fully understood and quantified and thus often ignored. The temperature fluctuations resulting from energy foundations and construction activities, such as excavations and soil stabilization, however, may lead to changes in the hydromechanical response of the clay.
