11. Development of the gastrointestinal tract in young mammals : Effects of enteral provocation with protease or phytohaemagglutinin in neonatal rats
Sammanfattning : The rat, as an altritial species, is born with an immature gastrointestinal tract and intestinal barrier function, which is highly absorptive to milk-borne bioactive molecules that can pass undigested and reach the general circulation of the suckling newborn. This passage occurs by the neonatal-Fc-receptor (FcRn) binding and trancytosis of immunoglobulin G in the proximal small intestine (SI) and by the highly endocytic vacuolated enterocytes non-selectively in the distal SI. 12. Production of polyclonal antibodies in rabbits and chickens immunised with human immunoglobulin G : A study of the utility of egg yolk antibody production as a substitute for rabbit serum antibody production
Sammanfattning : The utility of chicken egg yolk antibodies as an alternative to rabbit antisera was studied by comparing antibody and avidity development in immunised animals (15 rabbits and 30 chickens) during a one-year immunisation scheme. Human IgG was used as the model antigen and the efficacy of three adjuvants, Freund's Complete Adjuvant, Freund's Incomplete Adjuvant and Hunter's TiterMax, was compared. LÄS MER
13. Immunoglobulins, immunoglobulin subclass-distributions and serologic markers in some renal and systemic disorders
Sammanfattning : In this study we evaluated pathogenetic factors and possible mediators of renal and systemic disorders where immunologic mechanisms might be of importance. An abberant immunoglobulin and IgG-subclass distribution was detected in 103 patients with primary and secondary glomerulonephritis as well as in 38 patients with the systemic disease primary Sjögren 's syndrome or purpura hypergammaglobulinemica (elevated IgG1 and low IgG2 ). 14. Regulation of the murine immunoglobulin GL gamma-1 and epsilon promoters
Sammanfattning : The immune system takes advantage of different genetic alterations to amplify its diversity. First at early stages of B cell differentiation when the antigen (ag) receptors are assembled from different gene segments. LÄS MER
15. Immune moldulatory effects of intravenous immunoglobulin in vitro and after allogeneic bone marrow transplantation
Sammanfattning : Intravenous immunoglobulin (IVIG) has been used in patients with immunodeficiencies and various autoimmune diseases. Its immune modulatory effect is well documented. In allogeneic bone marrow transplantation (BMT) IVIG has been used to reduce the incidence of infections and graft-versus-host-disease (GVHD). LÄS MER
