2. Limonene Hydroperoxides in Allergic Contact Dermatitis. Radical Formation, Sensitizing Capacity and Immunogenic Complex Formation
Sammanfattning : Contact allergy to fragrance compounds is an increasing problem in the western countries today. R-Limonene is one of the most common fragrance compounds; it is used in hygiene products and cosmetics as well as in industrial products such as hand cleansers and degreasers. LÄS MER
3. Arthritogenic and immunogenic properties of modified autoantigens
Sammanfattning : Rheumatoid arthritis is a chronic inflammatory joint disorder with autoimmune features in which both genetic and environmental factors are potential contributors to the arthritogenic process. In this thesis work we aimed to increase the understanding of early pathogenic events underlying the development of this complex disease by investigating the arthritogenic and immunogenic properties of modified autoantigens in experimental settings as well as in RA patients. 4. Conformational Studies of Biologically Active Peptides
Sammanfattning : In this work conformational studies have been performed on peptides from four different systems in an attempt to gain knowledge about their biological function. Circular dichroism (CD) spectroscopy and nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy in combination with distance geometry and restrained molecular dynamics simulations were the methods used. 5. Immunological effects of isolated regional perfusion in malignant melanoma
Sammanfattning : Malignant melanoma patients with metastatic disease confined to the limbs or liver may be treated with hyperthermic isolated regional perfusion with a chemotherapeutic agent, most commonly melphalan. This procedure enables much higher tissue concentrations of the chemotherapeutic agent compared with systemic administration. LÄS MER
